yes time is right, as to location might have to move as not sure if keiron is moved in yet but ginge is out.

fauda posts: 14 United Kingdom

What are the choices of location? And When will we know?

Also I think Rach and I are going to have to skip the extra session from the 5/12. Work commitments are pending at the moment. Sucks but such is life.

Ding posts: 204 United Kingdom

I'll head to the shop for 7.30 unless someone texts me otherwise.

ian_t posts: 149 United Kingdom

We will have to move but where to will be decided when peeps get to the store

Laurent posts: 1029 United Kingdom

Ian,

I have walked a lot today and I am an old man.sad
If this is going to be at your place (not the shop for sure as per your prior message), please text me the postcode - I can vaguely remember how to get there by car, so would like the help of a web-based map.

I do not feel like going up that hill and down for nothing.

Laurent,

I wonder if Collatz Conjecture had any influence on the vault we were trapped in?

More info on Collatz Conjecture from wiki (the most reliable source of information) if anyone is interested.

I like Mathematics as a set of tools subservient to Engineering or Physics, i.e. useful things.

This subjects falls under: "Why are we paying highly educated and very intelligent people to solve things like that?"

Their time would be better spent on designing better economical rules for D&D where the owner of a poisonous lake can earn potentially more money than a bloke who would have spent twenty levels of his life conquering the entirety of a game setting and still be limited by a wealth per level threshold.

Laurent,

Ding posts: 204 United Kingdom

Are we starting at 7 or 7:30 tonight?

Ding posts: 204 United Kingdom

Ian has confirmed it is at 7, see you all there.

ian_t posts: 149 United Kingdom

just finished updating the calander and see you have just posted here yet you did not sign in for the game sad

Laurent posts: 1029 United Kingdom

Fellow players,

So how did it go?

Sorry for not showing-up, I was not feeling great at all on Wednesday. I must have caught the beginning of a cold while at the board-game session on the previous evening.

I am back to functioning normally now.

Laurent,

ian_t posts: 149 United Kingdom

right had hoped one of the 3 players that had turned up would have posted something, but alas it looks like it will fall to me.
the team entered the secret door and found themselves in a square room with 4 alcoves them being stood in one. with no visible doors the ranger stepped out of the alcove then imeadiatly jumped back in as the ceiling started to melt and hot brass was not fun (for players Dm/Gms on the other hand thats a different matter twisted). after some searching another secret door was found. dim dooring to it the group was out. down a corridor in to a room with 3 KOLBOLDS in. after RotR game with 1 kobold the group was wary. after finding out there were just kolbolds (Cr 1/2) they healed them and got some info from them before fighting a devil/demon. then exploing and fighting a noble salamander and finally finding a caged Djinn and healing him and recuing him Adam not has a minion for a year and a day. (Great another creature to keep track of in combat) so thats about all, that happened.

Laurent posts: 1029 United Kingdom

Ian,

Damn! Makoa could have abused that "one year and a day" deal, doing unspeakable things to the Djinn... but no! It had to be the preachy Cleric of Abadar who got him. sad

I know, I should have come to the game.

Laurent,

ian_t posts: 149 United Kingdom

right its nice to know makoa swings that way and unless the barbarian can now cast spells like heal, wish or miracle there was only one PC whom could have been granted the aid. will have to inform the others but now with this new info i dont think the party will ever want to be sleeping any where near you know biggrin

Ding posts: 204 United Kingdom

A valuable lesson learnt, if things are barred, sealed or shut in a way that takes more than a couple of rounds to get into them, it is probably best to leave them well alone.

Laurent posts: 1029 United Kingdom

Hello,

'twas all your fault exclaim
Playing the Barbarian with the least will-power in the party, the door resisted my push, this was FATE talking to us. You helped me open that door, you bear responsibility for the humiliating retreat.

Still, Makoa got disintegrated and survived, thanks to his amazing 30+ on his fortitude save. cool

I said last week that I'd post something about a 7th Sea one-off game that I could run if there's interest. It can wait to post-Legacy, or drop into the Runelords space, or whatever, really. As a short adventure to trial the system/my approach to GMing, it might work best not run on alternate weeks, but I don't mind really. Last time I ran it it took about eight hours in total, which is probably a good guide - while they're used to the system, they also get sidetracked more easily and spend much more time talking in character.

Anyway, some info on 7th Sea from one of my previous threads:

''7th Sea is set in 1688 in a kind of parallel world to our own (or least to our Europe), but with added sorcery, ancient artefacts from vanished civilisations, fey/goodly folk and other stuff. Many of the main European countries appear in the game, generally reflecting the most interesting parts of their history. For example, 'Avalon' is a combination of the renaissance England of Elizabeth I and the mythic fairytale England of King Arthur. In 'Montaigne' there's a revolution brewing, and in 'Castille' there's a boy king on the throne, war with Montaigne, and a religious Inquisition running more or less unchecked. Part of the fun is spotting parallels. The version of 7th Sea I'm currently running is cut down and home-brewed to make things easier and fairer and simpler for new players.

Compared to Pathfinder, 7th Sea:

  • Is much simpler to play and easy to pick up on the day.
  • Has no formal character classes/professions, so characters are much less specialised (though there are roughly three types of character)
  • Is designed to encourage and reward swashbuckling, risk-taking, heroism, derring-do, ballsy-but-ill-advised-manoeuvres, and doing what's cool and fun and epic rather than what gives you the optimum chance of success
  • Is relatively low-magic
  • Is essentially "Three Musketeers: The Roleplaying Game" in tone and style
  • Has a fairly simple combat system and therefore only limited tactical options - you may find it a bit restrictive.
  • Is at its best in non-combat situations (IMO)
  • Isn't a spoof, pastiche, or parody. Swashbuckler films work because they're played straight, even though they're preposterous ''

Anyway, this adventure is as follows:
Stop the Wedding!

We're in Castille (Spain), on a pleasant spring evening on a feast day. A large throng has gathered to watch a fencing match in the market square, and our hero has just narrowly defeated a bitter rival at court, thus winning a bet with an embarrassing forfeit for the loser. The crowd cheers the popular winner, who - alluringly sweaty and dishevelled - blows kisses to the crowd and guzzles messily from a waterskin. Coin chinks as bets are settled, and the loser stalks off, muttering plaintively about revenge.

Our hero's two best friends rush to congratulate him, as a trusted servant takes custody of the mask and foil, Master Diego criticises our hero's sloppy footwork. But our hero's eye is drawn to a familiar face in the crowd, whose countenance bodes only ill. Brushing aside the congratulations, our hero rushes forward towards the servant.
"What news?" our hero asks, knowing from the servant's expression that it will not be good.
"Francesca. She is to be married upon the next Feast Day. I.... I thought you would want to know."
"Who?" our hero demands, already knowing the answer.
"Vicente. Don Vincente, as we must now call him."

I've got some characters that I made for last time who can be reused, or we can come up with new ones. At the moment, we have:
The hero - Dashing, handsome, roguish and general all round shiny-teethed hero. Swoon.
Francesco - his friend. A playwright and satirist with an acid tongue, an acid quill, a hot head, and a very big mouth
Cecelia - another friend. Alluring flamenco dancer and spy.
El Raton - street kid, occasional associate of our hero. Deadly with a knife.
Paulina - the hero's former nanny, now servant. The most formidable woman on the planet. Primary school teacher glare.

Anyway, that's more than enough for now....

Ding posts: 204 United Kingdom

Hi Adam,

Sounds good to me. I would vote for dropping it into the Runelords space. From the sounds of it, it will take around three sessions to run. I think I could manage every other week with a new system, meaning we don't disturb the LoF group but I can certainly see the advantage of the straight three week run.

Perhaps, we should move this into it's own thread, "Ex-Runelorders Multi-RPG System Extravaganza" could be the title. Or tag onto the end of the Runelords thread, so not to disturb the LoF thread?

Fellow players,

Sounds like the beginning of a flame-war from a 4e player hiding behind an obscure RPG system from before the old D20 era. I say we beat-up Adam when he shows-up on Wednesday. biggrin

Yep, we don't want them 7th Sea antics in our proper Pathfinder thread. Get your own!
The Rise of the Runelords thread and page should slowly die. At currently 382 posts, and 8,539 views, it is still the longest and most followed thread on the boards. exclaim

Anyway, more seriously:
A thread can be created by any member, Adam, may I suggest that you copy/paste what you posted earlier and put it in the first post of the thread?
Remember that the first post appears on top of every page in a thread, so try to make it attractive with an image or a generic text.
There is an old 7th Sea page from a couple of years ago, it has a nice image on it cool, so you could either edit and recycle it or start a new one.

Fellow players,

So, shall we assume Legacy is on tonight or a surprise 7th Seas game?

Laurent,
