June Big Meet

Alan posts: 321 United Kingdom

Dear Members,

This is the discussion thread for our June 2011 Big Meet.

Obviously, you need to have a look at:

The June 2011 Social

The Afternoon Session

The Evening Session

You are:

A player.

  • Discuss the games on offer, what you need to prepare, anything really.
  • Ask kindly if someone else could run a game for you. Demand could create offer after all.

A GM

  • Describe the game you want to play here in addition to what is to be found on your game page.
  • Ask for advice on how to format your game page.
  • Ask the Organising Team member in charge of the event to put your game on the sign up page and linkify everything that needs be linkified, such as a particular game thread in the forum or your game page for instance. Members of the Organising Team should be able to modify the calendar event and tracker pages to include their own games, but I can do it for them too if need be.

A new member or a simple observer.

We do not bite, so post away.

And for all of the above, you can discuss transport issues here too.

This is the original post, people are invited to propose games as soon as possible to allow players some choice and time to make up their minds.

Hint.

"No game, thus no play makes us pretty dull boys" (and girls), so do not be shy and run something!

Sticky.

This thread will remain as a "sticky" until the June Big Meet has passed, then it will become a normal thread again. After that, you will still be able to comment on the event, but entropy should ensure the thread's slow death and let the newer thread for the current Big Meet take centre stage.

I will be running a game of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay in one of the two slots, dependent upon the players. :-)

Fellow members,

I will try to make it and run a Pathfinder RPG game, as usual an old Pathfinder Society Scenario. The Hydra's Fang Incident has been previously announced a couple of months back but was never run.

I need to check with my wife if I am allowed of course! frown

Laurent,

Welcome back Laurent, even if it is with a thumbprint on yer forehead.lol I hope everything over there went as well as these things can.

Fellow gamers,

I have put The Hydra's Fang Incident on the programme for the Afternoon session.

Discuss the game in this thread.

Laurent,

Hi all. All going well I should be able to make it this time. I'm interested in either WFRP or Pathfinder. Which edition of WFRP is it?

Bruce_C posts: 180 United Kingdom

I'm definate for tomorrow to and will play either, though I've leaning towards WH because I've never played it before.

Cheers,

Bruce

I shall be there too, with my wife.
I have been a good boy, going shopping with her for the past couple of weekends, so... smile

We shall be coming by car with Ian (driver) and Adam, leaving Nott'm by quarter to twelve or something like that.

I have revised my game last night.

Laurent,

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

I fully intend to be there.
Today has not been a good one for me, but that doesn't mean tomorrow will be bad too.
I am hoping to be there at the usual time for my monthly Ch. Ch. Ch. fix. (Even though I did manage a top up at Xorvintaal.wink)

Len

Fellow Big Meet attendees,

We had quite the little crowd today. Special hello to Tim and Stewart who had just discovered who we were.

The Pathfinder game ended up having far less people than I thought but this was good in a way as I have managed to get Tendai, my wife, to play. exclaim
I had agreed to stay only for the afternoon session, and a TPK shortened the game session, so we left a bit early; pretty good afternoon nonetheless I would say.

I hope the Warhammer Fantasy RPG game went well too.

Tendai has even asked later once back home "So what is Pathfinder? Is it D&D?"
To which I had to tell her "Yes. Pathfinder RPG is the purest essence of D&D. D&D 4th edition is played by people with webbed feet, dubious personal hygiene, who tend to have no friend but people playing 4th Ed." mrgreen

I hope the Warhammer Fantasy RPG game went well too.

I shall be setting up the threads and events for the next Big Meet sometimes soon.
Hopefully we will get as many people coming.

Laurent,

The Warhammer 3rd Ed game went very well, though we ran all the way down to the nail timewise. Dirty big Demon, a cultist that just refused to die and serious amounts of stress, fatigue and temporary (hopefully) insanity later and they were victorious! No one died (though three of the four players were unconscious due to a combination of stress, fatigue and massive wounds).

As a DM, I throughly enjoyed running the game (though I need a DM Screen . . . ), really enjoyed roleplaying with everybody and very much hope to see everyone again next month! :-D

So, yes, I'll be requesting a game slot please Laurent! :-D

On a serious note about the system for anyone considering playing it, I very much recommend you give it a go. The custom dice are awesome, though having so many cards and shinies does require a very tidy mindset, or it can get a bit out of hand.

Bruce_C posts: 180 United Kingdom

Thanks for running the game Josh.

Sorry I had to leggit early, I really should have planned ahead or at least thought to phone the missus earlier and warn her I'd be back late.

Enjoyed the game and it looks like a good system, definitely too much 'stuff' though!

Bruce

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

Your dwarf got quite pummelled towards the end, but at least the reason you are on the floor is not because you saw a scary painting.
I'm not at all sure I will trust any of you after I wake up. (Assuming the cultists leave my unconscious body alone.)

You're all out to kill me because I know the truth.

Len

skerrigan posts: 142 United Kingdom

I'd like to say thanks to everyone for making we welcome, and to Josh for running an excellent game, as well as the other players who made it such fun. Like Bruce I'm not convinced by the system but the game itself was excellent.

Big props to Len for enduring the 'bucket man' incident though. :-)

Hey there

Good to meet you all the other day.

Looking forward to actually staying longer than just the social next time... redface

Cheers
Tim

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

@Grey Lensman. You've made the first move by actually coming along. Next time you won't feel so much like a noob, and will probably be more able to stay longer.

We ended up staying until the pub closed on us. As much the end of the bitter as the bitter end. I've not done that in many months.

Len

Hey, what can I say? The Daemon just wouldn't die. Until it got hit repeatedly with an axe and stabbed through the chest with a sword made of shadow. >.>

skerrigan posts: 142 United Kingdom

I've a hunch we should've stopped the demon being summoned. :-D

Paladin posts: 219

You came very close! Twice.

But each time, just =one= round short. >.

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

... And all because you were too busy trying to make me kick the gorram bucket to get on with the job in hand.

But I know the truth. ... confused I think I do anyway. ... or it might be one of you playing with my mind. I can't wait till they invent aluminium foil so I can wrap my head in it and stop you messing with my brain.

Len Skunk. (Bucketman! ... and I think its gonna be a long, long time ...)

mousie69uk posts: 51 United Kingdom

And I think it’s gonna be a long long time... (whispers in your mind)... till you can trust everyone to stop staring at you... eek
