February 2011 Big Meet

Laurent posts: 1029 United Kingdom

Dear Members,

This is the discussion thread for our February 2011 Big Meet.

Obviously, you need to have a look at:

The February Social

The Afternoon Session

The Evening Session

You are:

  • A player.

Discuss the games on offer, what you need to prepare, anything really.

  • A GM.

Describe the game you want to play here in addition to what is to be found on your game page.
Ask for advice on how to format your game page.
Ask the Organising Team member in charge of the event to put your game on the sign up page and linkify everything that needs be linkified, such as a particular game thread in the forum or your game page for instance. Members of the Organising Team should be able to modify the calendar event and tracker pages to include their own games, but I can do it for them too if need be.

  • A new member or a simple observer.

We do not bite, so post away.

And for all of the above, you can discuss transport issues here too.

This is the original post, people are invited to propose games as soon as possible to allow players some choice and time to make up their minds.

Hint.

"No game, thus no play makes us pretty dull boys" (and girls), so do not be shy and run something!

Yes, I know, I am lazy and merely change the name of the month, but hey, a thread must start with a post after all. wink

Sticky.

This thread will remain as a "sticky" until the February Big Meet has passed, then it will become a normal thread again. After that, you will still be able to comment on the event, but entropy should ensure the thread's slow death and let the newer thread for the current Big Meet take centre stage.

Laurent,

Dear members,

Alright, so I have now posted the events and created this thread, NOW WE NEED GAMES! wink

Will 7th Sea Adventures and Seekers of the Ashen Crown be back for another installment? The text is still there on the sign-up page, I need only to re-link them from the event pages to re-activate them.

The Hollow's Chronicles should resume in the evening after too long a hiatus.

As usual, we can open more than two game slots per session, so discuss your game here, this could be a boardgame, card game, etc.

Please make the effort of registering your name on the events, even if you always show-up, this will encourage others to join us.

Laurent,

I'm up for running a third (and final) instalment of 'The Dandy Highwayman' if there's interest in finishing it. Depending on who can or can't make it, there's some scope for new people to join in if we need games, but they're probably better off joining another game at the start rather than midway through.

I've got an idea for Pathfinder adventure that'll be a one off, pretty much non-stop combat. But it needs turning from an idea into an actual adventure, and that's some way off yet....

EDIT - do we definitely have a venue booked, if (I assume) no-one was there last time?

Laurent posts: 1029 United Kingdom

Ok, I will put your game back-up.

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

Well done that man.
I am not sure I could volunteer to run a game given the way things are for me these days, but I will do my absolute damnedest to be there to play and chinwag over Ch. Ch. Ch. for the social. I can bring the Deathmatch kit with me as I usually do, and some Board/Card games too.

Also, I'd like to add a public thank you to Laurent for taking the initiative and shouldering the burden of organising the monthly Big Meets recently.

Len,

Bah, mo worry. I felt a bit sad for not having at least posted something on the admin board about not being able to set-up or attend the January one. neutral

Not sure if we can get the whole Vague Connections team to show up this time, but we will try. I think Ian will be working on that Saturday, so no transport via Ianmobile and no tour of Derby's industrial estates.wink

Laurent,

I've nearly shaken off the flu so barring any more sneezing pigs I'll be there...

Laurent posts: 1029 United Kingdom

Any news about Seekers of the Ashen Crown?
Will it be on?

There was talk at the Xorvintaal game of running the next session at the February Big Meet as a way to pull in the players from that game, since the timing is pretty much perfect for several players who otherwise have restrictive work schedules.

It would probably help to bring back the numbers back up. However, I'm only a player, not the DM of Xorvintaal, so I can't issue binding statements. wink Xorvintaal is played as and when the various players can make it rather than any strict schedule. The players are mainly from the Derby & Leicester areas, so holding it at the Brunswick makes good sense, and being there for the one, makes it more likely we'll all do the whole day.

Len,

Far from me the claim of policing the Big Meet, but allow me to do it anyway:
Could you enter the names of the Xorvintaal players on the Afternoon Session list of attendees? Or set-up an entry for Xorvintaal as "game 2" and also register the players.

This is to show to potential attendees that there will indeed be a little troupe present. santa

As you know we always end-up with a group of regulars with an "official" list of attendees of only three to four people.

Laurent,

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

Damned Gendarmes. lol

I'll try to get it done over the weekend. wink Right now, I am bracing myself for taking off the compression gear that has been holding me together today. Then I intend to take my full dose of codeine and retire to my pit. After that, I will probably not care overly much. cool

Jaxtasha posts: 111

Sorry but Seekers and Xorvintaal will not be running! I have a introduction weekend for my MA so not going to be available sorry...

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

Damn. (For Xorvintaal) I was looking forward to that. Ah well. I suppose on the plus side, I can once more be the debonair Spaniard. I shall buckle on my swash I guess.

SITREP for CONception: All goes well.
Red Stuff taking quite a hit from many of us.
Seen a few old acquaintances.
Ringwood tastes good enough.
T'Internet via Blackberry used as modem less than perfect. Wireless damned expensive.

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

Hello,

Not wanting to be a killjoy, but "The Brunswick" may become pretty rough in the afternoon due to this sporting event which is tabled for 5.20 p.m.

This is a local derby in Derby, in other words, maximum attendance is expected.

As we all know, early kick-off times are not a problem as they must leave by the time we start the afternoon session, late ones, like this one can suck big time.

Ideally we could hide in that little room upstairs, the "board-room" if I am not mistaken.

(Thanks Ian for the head-up.)

Laurent,

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

Damn, there will be Leicester people there. Can't get away from them. wink

Len

Laurent posts: 1029 United Kingdom

Len,

Just to think that it is possible for one to be:

  • 4e player
  • football supporter
  • from Leicester

Thousands of years of human Civilisation and this! mrgreen

Crew

We shall have at least three people coming from Vague Connections / Nottingham:
Adam, Ian and myself. ETA quarter past one, but at least there by two o'clock.
Andrew will be running his shop this time though.

Venue

Adam asked a pertinent question last night: Do we have a booking at the Brunswick for Saturday? I assume we do.

Laurent,

My body does not seem to understand my wishes.
The level of pain today is so bad that I son't think I cam make it.
The pain in my hands is eclipsed by the pain in my knees. I hurt pretty much all over from the soles of my feet my thighs, hips, back shoulders and elbows, but the knees have the lead right now.
I don't think I could make it even if I managed to get a lift there and back.

I hope you guys enjoy yourselves though. As for the booking, I didn't do it personally, but I believe we do.

Hello,

The February Big Meet was again sort of a dud, with Nottingham people coming to Derby for a drink and some food at the Brunswick, saying hello to Dan and Becky... then driving back to Nott'm to play at Vague Connections.
We waited until half past two, just in case people showed-up, then considering the arrival of advanced scouts from the hordes of football supporters due to hit the pub sooner rather than later, the four of us (Ian, Adam, Paul and humble I) decided to go home to play the final (yep, truly final) session of Adam's compelling 7th Sea Adventures, see the relevant thread for more information.

The pub has been refurbished, and the smell of newly applied paint replaced that of stale beer. smile

Hopefully there will be more EMRPGG members showing-up at the March Big-Meet.

Laurent,
