Pinto Branderby

As a child, Pinto was fascinated by nature and the surrounding areas of woodland. There always seemed to be something calming and serene about the trees and animals that surrounded her. She spent her days learning the secrets of nature; how to walk unseen through the undergrowth, how to track and hunt animals. She fashioned her first longbow when she was just ten years old and in later years, learnt what she could from the carpenter of Kardistyr about the shaping and working of wood in order to carve more superior bows.

At nineteen years old, Pinto rarely returns home to her family’s farm in Kardistyr and they have stopped expecting her too, although her mother in particular, Malva Kinaer Branderby still has mild hysterical outbursts at the thought of her child and daughter not living under her roof. She has almost perfected the lifestyle that she utilises, living of the land and hunting for food. She knows the land between Kardistyr and East Lexton incredibly well and often drops into East Lexton to re-supply and sort repairs before heading out into the wilds once more. She is a frequent visitor to Trell’s Outfitters and has bumped into Minnie on various occasions. There have been repeated offers to Pinto to make her clothes more presentable, all have been flatly refused. Nevertheless, there is a certain fondness for the fellow halfling which makes up for any odd (in Pinto’s eyes) female peculiarities.

Kardistyr
A small, insular, Halfling settlement over twenty miles north of East Lexton. People are born, they grow up, and they die having never been further than a few miles outside its boundaries. Children follow their parents onto the family farm, sometimes, though rarely, apprenticing themselves to a different craft in a neighbouring town. Generation follows generation with little change. This is what the residents of Kadistyr exist in and they oppose any sort of change wholeheartedly. The people of Kardistyr are more settled than most, and unwilling to believe that ‘different’ could ever mean ‘better’. They listen with scorn to the tales of roving kobold bands destroying villages further to south, believing them to be little more than fairy stories invented by the gnomes for some unknown reason in order to scare them and are dismissed out of hand.
