Drogo Toe-chomper

Born to the Dark-claw clan on the southern plains of Invar. Dragod his father taught Drogo to hunt fish and bear weapons, His mother Ravas taught him to how to gathering, cooking and his grandfather taught him tribal lore, leather work and how to make weapons.
Childhood was a time of work and learning. As a young boy Drogo spent his time working with his family or with his extended tribal family. Some days were spent gathering with his mother and the other women. Some days were spent with his father tracking, stalking, hunting and fishing the local rivers and streams. When he has not out on the hunt, gathering or running errands for the tribe, he was practicing with his weapons for hunting and defence from the tribe’s enemies. It was a full and sometimes hard life but as he grew he became strong of body as well as quick of mind and was soon an adult of some renown within the tribe. As Drogo reached adulthood it was clear to his family and tribe that he was destined for great things and although it was never said, it was well known that one day they would follow him as their chief.

Upon returning to the village after a hunting trip not long after his 18th Birthday, Drogo found his home put to the torch and his friends, family and tribe all put to the sword. Finally tracking down his father’s body, Drogo discovers the corpses of several Kobolds and several more still scavenging through the ruins.
Screaming in rage Drogo is among them and before they can even raise a shout he has felled the two closest to him and charging the third. As he takes the third Kobold’s head of with a mighty blow, the rest of the Kobold party surround him. Although more than capable of taking a Kobold warrior on his own, sheer numbers are against him and he is soon forced into a reluctant retreat under the weight of opposition’s numbers.
With a gorge at his back he is trapped. Bleeding from a score of nicks and cuts, his strength and energy sapping away with each parry and block, takes a blow to the side of the head and is sent tumbling down the sheer side. Laying on the edge of the river bank, bleeding, broken and being pelted by rocks, stones and being near skewered by Kobold spears Drogo uses the last ounce of strength in his failing body to drop into the flowing water.
Then black.

Drogo awoke in an unfamiliar room; he was in the temple of St Cuthbert.
Found by Minnie the Sorceress, who was out on one of her regular jaunts to the woods and river to collect regents. Washed up by the river, unconscious and barely breathing Minnie rushes the stricken barbarian to the local temple where he is given into the care of Pickles and his brothers.
Drogo’s recovery took a few weeks and during that time came to respect the Pickles and was grateful for his aid. Once his strength was sufficient enough Drogo began making enquiries as to recent Kobold raids and attacks in the area. He found very little information asking around, until he met a strange Gnome with copper hair and an odd green streak which he had tried to hide under his hat. Drogo learns of Mule’s Trail and the Kobold raids, and agrees to accompany the next caravan out that way to see if there are any leads on the band that attacked his tribe. As an added bonus the job of caravan guard paid enough to give generously to the temple’s coffers for the Cleric’s help and leave just enough for his trail supplies and gear.

The journey was relatively quiet and Drogo found himself spending a lot of time travelling beside Kal. Although not exactly a fast friendship, they fell into a comfortable routine of travelling companions.
The Kobolds around Mules trail seemed unlikely to be linked to his own bands’, only rarely coming out for small skirmishes nothing like the large aggressive group that had attacked his tribe. Drogo returns with Kal to East Lexton where the gnome has a couple of contacts with caravan guards, rangers (Squig among others) and even Trell the owner of the local outfitters.

The origin of the Toe-chomper name:

To anyone outside his tribe, the name Toe-chomper comes from his after battle mutilation of his fallen foe’s largest toe with his bare teeth.
To his tribe, the name comes from his unusual method of trimming his toenails with his teeth.
