Recruiting for a 'Short' Armagada campaign

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

There has developed a small opening in the Leicester area schedule. I propose to fill it. Leah is not yet ready to replace 'Beholder', and the Armagada campaign is on a temporary hiatus. The new campaign will be a 'short' campaign, but not necessarily in the duration sense.wink

The reason I call it a short campaign is that it will be restricted to characters from two races only. Halflings, or Gnomes. Your choice of class from the 3.5 PHB starting at level one. Your choice of Halfling or Gnome, but roughly equal proportions would be nice for reasons that may never become apparent.

To make matters worse, you should know that in the part of my world where this takes place, Halflings and Gnomes do not get on particularly well. Each race has its legends about the reasons. The Halflings blame the Gnomes, and the Gnomes blame the Halflings. each believes that the races used to work well together in the distant past, but that there was some kind of falling out. in the dim and distant past, whose exact cause seems a mystery.

No one has any valid reason why they distrust each other, and there are even quiet instances of friendships between the races. These friendships are frowned upon by groups of Halflings or Gnomes, but individually it is sometimes different.

Imagine the childish attitude that all red headed kids are freaks and smell funny, apart from you Jimmy, you are different. You are my friend. However I might have to say you smell if my mates are around, 'cos they don't know you like I do. That is what it's like in this community among the adults.

There are quite a few humans, a smaller number of dwarves and elves around, but PCs will all be either Halfling or Gnome, and will like the other PCs whatever their race. (Except when others are around, when they might pretend not to like each other, cos it wouldn't do to get a reputation as a Halfling-lover or Gnome-lover.)

You will not be staying in your own community long, and there will be no openly hostile inter-party actions. You all secretly like each other. Its the rest that smell/steal/eat babies/wet the bed/look funny.

The game days/times/venue is yet to be set in stone, but it will probably be Tuesday Evenings alternate weeks at my place. 'cos I have a games room. That will severely limit numbers and priority will be given to suitable folks who can commit to a regular schedule. Naturally, if you are averse to playing a Gnome or a Halfling, then this campaign will not be your cup of tea.

Why only Gnomes or Halflings? Because I said so. That is what the campaign needs. You should also be aware that I like s bit of backstory, and your backstory can and may well be used if its good and I get the chance. However this is my world, and backstories will have to comply with it, so they should be discussed with me individually before you get too carried away.

Hahaha, well now you got more people looking at it so you better damn well start update it!
Or there'll be no beer, chocolate, or wining anything! wink

Shameless plugging for a site that has that kind of content is just no problem. Now, if you were trying to sell me double glazing or even offering a free iThingy, I might be offended.

That was just self-promotion on your part. Now, let me make what sounds like more self promotion, but isn't quite.
By linking this site one way to your site, you alerted Google that there was a one-way relationship where you were offering a link to your site on this one. If however you had a return link, your site AND this site would be seen by Google as having a reciprocal relationship. You would benefit to a much greater degree than simply offering a one way link.

Google sees this sort of one-way link all the time, and does not give them much weight. It is far too easy for people to do this, and shows little commitment, so you gain none of the weight of the second site.(Us) Reciprocal links are a different matter. They add to your blog's ratings, and do ours no harm either, in fact if your blog were popular it would add to our ratings too. The best way to give them more weight is to make them the subject of an entry in the blog. However that will only add a temporary lift. As your Blog ages, the post loses currency, and that can also be important.

More than happy to link up to here on the blog, just gonna put a few more licks of paint on a couple of the mini's and then i will post about EMRPGG and drogo. I'll add the logo and a direct link to the home page on my sidebar too, may not be super effective for the google bots but every little helps as the supermarket likes to drone on biggrin

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

... and don't throw this one away {ducks}

Graphic AND text link is google's own recommendation, so it could be better than you might think. 'course you should then post a reciprocal graphic link here too.

That poor flogged horse, not really the right place for this.

Sorry that you have issues with things here, but as you have left why continue to gripe? And why do it on our group’s game thread?

Spamming on forums will not win you an argument but will disrupt things for people who do not want to get involved, which is pretty poor form.

I do not think this will be resolved for you, you have joined the other group so live and let live!

So, moving right along.
Is everyone ready for tonight?
It should be a great session. Lots of things could happen tonight.
It's even feasible you could end the night on a whole new level.
You'll still be short of course, but higher. There is no way you'll get taller.

Apoc posts: 78

ooh ooh sounds great! biggrin

I have been looking forward to this.

I wonder if Drogo will get to hurl a trident in anger? will Kal find out more about his draconic ties? will Pickles ever take his mask off or is it stuck for good with sweat? will Squig be able to find his way.. well.. er.. anywhere? and most important, above all other fears, hopes and wishes; will Minnie get the blood stain out of her dress!?!

Charlie posts: 202 United Kingdom

I imagine the simple (and accurate) answer to most of those questions will be a resounding 'no'!

Also, as soon as we get back to somewhere that almost kind of resembles what might be considered civilisation we need to track down a place to buy scrolls of Enlarge Person just to prove that Gnomes and Halflings can get taller!

Ileandra Young posts: 116 United Kingdom

Ready and willing, just tired and sniffly. Careful you don't all catch the lurgy off me! redface
Oh and this is the platform for list arranging now razz then yes, that would be lovely. Thankies.

Apoc posts: 78

Ah lucky for me my original dice rolls are on here! so drogo should be fixed by the next session. Will do a sheet for standard Drogo and one for an enraged goblin/giant spider slaying halfling of DOOM!

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

Yeah, about my pet spider. cry Bloody halfling with a big pickle fork walks up to it and stabs it to death with one throw. I must have words with the Monster manual about monstrous spiders of the small variety. Its ancestor was much tougher. twisted It managed to wreak havoc on a whole village.

A nice session, even if a couple of busy players short. (Thanks also to the folks who helped me thrash this one through before the players got hold of it. I think it would have gone pear-shaped the original way. You know who you are.)

Len

Apoc posts: 78

Erm.. I think Drogo was raging without knowing it, he is a little less unstoppable killing machine and more Halfling with a big fork now redface

Sorry he was so broken guys, I picked a snazzy looking character creation programme that had no idea what I was playing it seems. Have a nice simple excel sheet to work to now and it has flushed the steroids right out of Drogo!

I will spend the next couple of weeks making sure I learn what stats go where and why.

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

More likely the spider was under powered too. Small might really need to have been medium or even large if you were all there to confront it. I toned it down too far because there were less of you. - My bad.

Len

Charlie posts: 202 United Kingdom

Hey! No! Wait there, we need the over-powered super behemoth that is Drogo! wink Minnie and Kal are never getting off that cart if the toe chomping, trident slinging halfling can't protect them no more! eek

Apoc posts: 78

You may need a spell for removing splinters from your bums then wink
