Slumbering Tsar game

Moving the talk of this game, into it's own thread.

As it stands there is me and three players. Would be good to have one more. [Although I'm kinda thinking that if Ginga is able to host he'd probably join us]

4 players is good with me numbers wise.

Basics of the adventure path:
Starting level: 7
Races: any of the races in the core book.
Classes: Any from Core/APG/Complete magic/Complete Warrior. [Although no Summoner or Gunslinger]
Starting cash: 23,500gp

This adventure is a sandbox like adventure. You have the area of The Desolation and the City of Tsar open to you to explore/plunder. You can choose were you go and in which order you do it in. [Although a gentle GM pointer do the area of The Desolation first then go to the City of Tsar]

Just a side note (to make it a little easier for me) your characters are members of the Pathfinder Society. [It is up to you if you want your characters to have worked together before or if you know each other prior to setting out]

Background:
Your characters have been given an job by the Pathfinder Society to investigate the region known as The Desolation, and the deserted city of Tsar.[They have pointed you to the hamlet called "The Camp" as a home base while in the area]
The society is particularly interested in this area for two reasons.

Firstly the old trade route that existed through The Desolation if made safe would mean that the Society would have a significant advantage in trade between the Inner Sea Region and Tian Xia.*

Secondly, the history's of this area report long ago that the (now deserted) city of Tsar was a city held by Orcus. There was a battle between the forces of light and the forces of Orcus, which changed the nature of The Desolation.

Given the history's there must surely be many interesting relics that should be claimed for the Society so that they can be stored safely and be kept out of the wrong hands. The society would also be interested in further information about the battles that happened here as the recorded histories have many gaps in them.

They have mentioned that if you are able to make The Desolation and the City of Tsar safe, they would need a capable group to set up a Pathfinder Society Lodge in the area, and perhaps run the area for the good of the Society.

  • A note, I am placing The Desolation in the area of the Inner Sea called The World Wound. The city that you would have been given this assignment in would be Bard's Gate.

Almort (Ding): Lich Sorcerer
Rondar (Ron): Magus. Now an NPC as he fell at the feet of Orcus in a dream.
Mehilainen Kirkas (Mel): Cleric. Sometimes known as "the one armed Bint"

Hey Mel, welcome back!

---

Was thinking: given that the last Lich in the desolation had a Kill Squad of Awesome Adventurers sent after it by The Usher, I wonder what sort of reception little Almort will be getting when we head back to Camp...
Maybe being grounded is going to be the least of his worries.

Lich Wars pt 2 coming up! surprised

Maybe its "The Lord of the Lichs: the fellowship of the Lich"?

Ding posts: 204 United Kingdom

Mel. You have missed a couple of great sessions and encounters. Also, Almort is not going through a phase he's big (haha, well maybe old) enough and smelly (certainly now) enough to make his own choices and has clearly not made some brash decision. A decision akin to a teenager getting a tattoo of their favourite rock band which they will clearly love for the rest of their lives.

Tim. Hopefully the few levels I have in disguise will help me get around the place. However, no one would beleive that a lich and a LG Paladin would be friends, so that's got to be some more bonus points. Almort is a relatively good Lich and the area isn't renouned for Good characters, that last Lich was clearly a very naughty boy.

Did we not give the phylactery of the last lich to The Usher, was it ever distroyed?

Harper. What ever comes Almort's way, he'll deal with it or at least try to. I'm happy to go with group consensus regarding the epic encounter. Saying that, everything has seemed fairly epic any way. So this encounter of yours possibly sounds like epic to the power two. On the other hand, the best encounters are where you just scrape through.

The phylactery you found was given to The Usher. As to if it was ever destroyed, no one has asked The Usher to find out.

I've asked Ron and Bradley (off of the boards) about it and they seem to be up for the epic battle. (The reason why I'm asking is because I need to bring a mini with me). That and I'll want everyone to be there for it.

Really sorry everyone but I am going to have to drop out of this weeks game. Confusion over calendars.
I will leave you with my character sheet just in case you need some up front assistance.

A quick summary of the last session:

Now that we have rescued the Caravan Survivor we decide to head back home to get our reward. Like it’s going to be that easy.

First up we are ambushed by a small group of Nabasu Demons. We are now Level 11.

Then the DM plonks a huge Black Dragon ‘miniature’ onto the table (giving him a +4 bonus on all rolls to ‘Intimidate Players’.) This apparently is the ‘Guardian of Tsar’, a Tar Dragon, and it has come out to play. With us. The Dragon pukes a load of sticky acid over the party then tries to eat the Cleric. The Cleric is now unconscious. The Paladin and Fighter take on the Dragon from the front, the Ninja sneaks up on it from behind and the Magus buffs the party with Haste and Enlarge. Then the Fighter gets knocked out as well ... and when he comes to the Dragon is dead.

Or in other words: I was busy counting up all the damage the Fighter had just taken and kind of missed a few details about the end of the fight. redface

The Fighter and Cleric were KO’d (ironically the two people who were least enthusiastic about a high-risk battle), you’d need a micrometer to count how much Health the Ninja still had and the Paladin didn’t look too chipper either. But no perma-deaths. And... if I ever get around to doing any GMing myself then every adventure I run will have a GIANT NINJA FIGHTING A DRAGON. biggrin

Continuing southwards we find a war machine from the Army of Light still trundling around by itself. It is some kind of magical construct that looks like a steam roller with battlements on top. The plan is that the Cleric makes us all some little doodads that identify us as being in the Army of Light so this magical war machine will stop trying to run us over - and maybe we get ourselves an Armoured Personnel Carrier to drive into Tsar in style?

Finally - we return to the Camp:

  • We each get 1,500 gp as a reward for rescuing the Ninja.
  • The Cleric puts a Restraining Order on the Magus.

We are basically finished with the map sections on the right, with 2 exceptions:

  • The Druids and their Vampire Tomatoes need a little... pruning. evil
  • The closet demolitionist in me wouldn’t mind blowing up those towers in the Chaos Rift at some point in time so if anyone sees some C4 in the equipment lists or has a suitable spell then we are in business. Otherwise we will have to get a flat-pack trebuchet from the Bard’s Gate Ikea and go old-school on them.

May I suggest that Tim becomes the party "reporter". (As he does it so well!)

I did promise a "epic" battle.. and I hope that it came through as promised. (Yes high risk.. but you did get a load of XP for it! Plus it opens the way to enter the city of Tsar).

I enjoyed it very much, despite being unconscious for most of it... At least I managed to hurt it with fire before I went down!

I'm going to have to call this week's session off. Sorry for the late notice.

Tim the Enchanter posts: 123

That's a shame.

It's times like this that we need our DM-in-training Ding to 'hold the line' with a quick adventure! biggrin

See you all in two weeks.

Ding posts: 204 United Kingdom

Darn. I can run We Be Goblins, a one shot game for Pathfinder, if people wanted? I can have a read through this afternoon.

More details here.

Harper, if you see this in time, can you PM me phone numbers so I can contact people.

Tim the Enchanter posts: 123

I'm guessing it might be a little late to put something together for tonight?

However...

Maybe we as a group should have a think sometime about our options for a back-up plan or two for future reference.

Personally speaking I'd be up for playing (or maybe even running) the odd one-off adventure here and there to fill in the gaps, but perhaps other people would prefer not to?

Tim the Enchanter posts: 123

Aha! You cheeky post-editing ninja, you! :p

Well okay if you decide to give it a go then count me in.
I will check back on the thread later on.

(It has pre-gens, right?)

Ding posts: 204 United Kingdom

Yeah, there's pre-gens. I've got contact info for mel, jules and ron, through fb and other avenues. If there's enough interest I'll run, otherwise will see people in two weeks.

Regards backup, there's always one shots or board games.

Tonbo posts: 45

i'm still up for playing something. one off sounds great.

melociraptor posts: 86

Yep, I'm up for it too.

Ding posts: 204 United Kingdom

Ok, we're on. See you guys for a 7pm start.

Tim the Enchanter posts: 123

Cheers for that, Ding. Awesome stuff.

So when are you going to run the next Goblin Adventure for us?
The Legend of Retard Big-Head and her Horseslicer of Doom must continue...

Tonbo posts: 45

Thanks again for running that game, a really good night even if Greta was the worst character in the world for actually doing anything useful.

Ding posts: 204 United Kingdom

Glad you both enjoyed it, it was interesting to run. It might be a good idea to have some one-offs in the sleeve incase Nick has to drop out again.
