Monthly Boardgames in Leicester coming back

Alan posts: 321 United Kingdom

Yes thats right, back. For those who have been around long enough to remember I used to organise a monthly board and card game event in Leicester (technically Aylestone) Called Board and Card Games Galore!!!!!!!!!!!! - not named by me might I add mrgreen. Anyway it died off in my unfortunate absence. But now I'm back so I'm going to re-instate it. I've not yet talked about it in detail with the venue but I did pop in a while back and ask and in principle there is no problem there. I intend to drop in on them soon and discuss it in a more concrete fashion i.e. actually book some space.

Historically the event was on the 4th Saturday each months - 2 weeks after The Big Meet but I'm thinking about changing that to a Sunday instead. It depends a bit on whether the Venue has free space for us then or not but in principle I think the idea is good. Last time attendance was very variable and not as high as I'd like to have seen and I think lazy Sunday afternoon games might go down better.

Which is why I'm posting this, I would like to hear from folks around here what they think. Whether they are familiar with the old event or not which works better for you, Saturday or Sunday. Or anything else for that matter - if you think it'd be better happening the week after the big meet, or the week before, happening elsewhere etc make it known. Right now I'm happy to have some options to consider. Not that I'll be able to please everyone but fresh input is good.

For more information take a look at the wiki page / faq:

Board and Card Games Galore

It will need some updating for sure but it gives a good overview of what sort of thing to expect from the event and how it worked before. In particular I'm aware the venue - The Black Horse now offers food which is potentially very helpful.

These days I've got even more games and even more desire to play them, so with any luck the first event will happen later this month, if not then it will happen in October for sure.

In all honesty I think I rather shot the event in the foot from the get go owing to my weekly friday night board gaming session (open to any who fancy popping along) - I feel it has have given those who might normally attend a more reliable less hard to schedule fix. I'm certainly enjoying it biggrin and it'll continue for the forseeable so it is not like I'm short of my point scoring cube shuffling jollies.
