this what happens with a smart bad guy who has been able to observe the groups tactics before. ie identify the main threats and take them out. what i should have done next was to turn invisable again and repeat next to the barbarian then do the same for the druid. effectivly removing the top 3 threats before mopping up the rest of the party in cc, but o'well he has learnt and you guys still have something he wants twisted

Laurent posts: 1029 United Kingdom

Dear all,

Can I be reminded next time that I have built my Barbarian for sunder?
I am saying this, because I always forget to strip the BBEG of his armour or destroy a weapon we would not use...

Thanks, smile

Laurent,

Ian,

This is the boon companion feat I was talking about taking, if allowed.

It is from the Pathfinder Chronicles: Seekers of Secrets—A Guide to the Pathfinder Society book.

and here's some bonus forum discussion about it.

Cheers
Ding

Dear Ian,

As a fellow GM, I must complain about the request made by one of your players.

What do we have here?
A contemptible argument merely a couple of lines long!

Knowing that the author aspires at getting a Ph.D. far more should be expected of him. Where is the argumentation, the historical references to the OGL, the comparison to similar feats as described in obscure 3rd Edition books or D20 supplements? Where is the 5,000 words essay on Boon Companion?

No, there is no argumentation here but a vague "Can I play with this? Other guys have used it and talked about it on a forum thread somewhere..."

In other words, this is a pathetic display of argumentative laziness and the candidate should be sent back to his keyboard to develop and refine his prose. mrgreen

Laurent,

Ding posts: 204 United Kingdom

Sorry folks, I can't make this evening's game as my friend is having her art exhibit opening this evening.

Hope it goes well.

ian_t posts: 149 United Kingdom

ding, this is just not good enough. your lack of commitment to the game is disturbing, did you not point out to your "artist" friend that you have something else on? but artists are what there are and do things just to deliberatly upset some folks. mrgreen

no worries ding have fun and will catch you at the runelords game next week or board games on monday

ian

ian_t posts: 149 United Kingdom

due to unforseen and tragic circumstances RotRL will not been on this week and i will be running LoF instead. exact details will be given in person if you require them

last nights session, the party got out of the desert and to katapesh city but not before the "trader" you had picked up tried running off with the scroll. for some reason airsenda decided he had pesh on him and chased him down like a madwoman. the group has met the contact that almah has sent you to see to check out the scroll and he has invited you to stay.
next session this will be more RP heavy as you are now on your own with propably the largest settlement in the world for buying and selling goods. so have a look at what you may want in the books and make your shopping lists

ian_t posts: 149 United Kingdom

for those who missed the game, much fun was had in haggling in selling your "loot" by all (some got in to the swing of it quicker than others). all has now been sold and with the bag of gems (2500gp) you each have another 3550gp to add to it so you can think on what you wish to purchase with your cash. you can go after anything you want but be prepared to haggle and wheel and deal for it mrgreen.

ps don't try anything stupid the others have seen whats there to kepp thing in linetwisted

Tariq has the feats to make wondrous items, rings, and scrolls, but not weapons and armour. Anything listed in the Argos Catalogue rulebooks that has a caster level of 7th or below, and has spells that we have access to (as a party) he can make for half price.

Some of the common magic items he can make (up to +2):
Ring of Protection (deflection bonus to AC)
Amulet of Natural Armour (hardness bonus to AC, stacks with above)
Cloak of Resistance (bonus to saving throws)

We also have a +1 cloak of resistance (and possibly a +1 ring of protection) still unassigned in party loot.

Tariq can't yet make stat bonus items (headbands, belts etc), but at next level he can make the single stat items. So you can buy them for full price, or save up and get 'em half price.

I (as the player) am not going to charge anything beyond cost for creating them, but in character let's assume that getting items at cost is linked to continued service to Calamain/being a party member. I might have a flick through at possible healing items we might need and perhaps ask for a contribution towards the clerical medicine cabinet. I'll post ideas here before next week if I have chance. We now have access to a lot of the cure disease/blindness/deafness spells, but perhaps we want them in scroll form rather than taking up spell slots.

We still have all the scrolls we agreed to buy last time (see earlier in the thread), two fresh cure light wound wands, and (I think) about a dozen charges on a minor restoration wand (restore d4 stat damage).

ian_t posts: 149 United Kingdom

legacy is on again this week and next. will put up the calander event soon

Ding posts: 204 United Kingdom

Sadly, I can't make the game this evening. Will see you all next week.

Adam posts: 137 United Kingdom

A short session of shopping and silliness....

I've had another cunning plan re pooling cash for highly situational but highly useful stuff....

We already have 2 x wands of CLW for topping up, and a wand of lesser restoration with a dozen or so charges. We also have the scrolls from the last lot of purchases.

For the princely sum of a 1k contribution each, we can get:
1 x Scroll of Raise Dead (including material component)
1 x Scroll of Cure Disease
1 x Scroll of Remove Curse
1 x Scroll of Remove Deafness/Blindness
1 x Scroll of Invisibility Purge

+ A little cash left over for the next rations purchase/whatever

Either the Cleric or the Witch (or both) has access to all of these spells (apart from Raise Dead), so for non-urgent stuff we can just prepare the spell the next day. But I think it would be good to have scrolls for emergencies. Tariq can make all the scrolls (except raise dead) for cost price.

Spending 1k out of 6k of our loot on this stuff is quite a lot, but I think it's a good investment.

ian_t posts: 149 United Kingdom

no, no, no. this is all a bad idea there is no need for any of this (or is there?). what sort of adventurers are you thinking about others and not your selves. think of the extra shineys that you can get with that money. look sparkley things lol

fauda posts: 14 United Kingdom

Ian, can you tell me how much cash we (Rach and I) have to spend so we can prepare a list of things we are looking for in the bizarre. Is there a set % for selling items for swapping current magic items for other things? Not sure magical swords are really part of Fauda's character. Is there anything that confers magic attack to unarmed for when I am in beast shape, like hand wraps or something.

Secondly, how much in game lore do we know about what we are doing. The bi-weekly sessions and a few absences have left me a little unsure about what is going on in character. I have access to the material and could read up on back story but I wouldn't want any spoilers. I am willing to spend skill points on some knowledges too if that helps with any in game knowledge.

ian_t posts: 149 United Kingdom

i will look at your sheets and text you later. as for selling and buying, you will have to see how you do at the bazaars haggling for your goods. the others bar Laurent have done it and not come out too badly so far. work to 50% selling and 100% buying if you get those figure fine, if you get better good for you and if you get worse thats how the cookie crumbles sometimes. (ummm! cookies........)
as to point 2 you have not missed much while you have been missing, your addiction has cleared up and the group has had 2 offers for the scroll if it is real. though the second offer i dont think has been told to the rest of the party as the "crack whore" did not pass the info on. if you read up on the stuff you have done and are to do i can not stop you, but will ask you not to

fauda posts: 14 United Kingdom

two offers of what for the scroll? what is the scroll other than magical? and if there is no extra gold on my sheet then i expect the shopping trip to be short as there is little of value to a character of my level for 3500gp.

Ding posts: 204 United Kingdom

So what is the plan tomorrow regarding start time and space?

fauda posts: 14 United Kingdom

Good question Ding. 8?

Was thinking of retiring Fauda. Thoughts? I fancy a fighter, maybe a Dwarf.

ian_t posts: 149 United Kingdom

as regards the start time i have posted on the event a start time of 7:45. when i spoke to ginga last week about things he said he would get us the room slightly earlier and to start with out him.
matt if your thinking about a new character i need to know ASAP as there will be a small window to do this soon
