The East Midlands Roleplayers Gaming Group (Formerly The East Midlands Roleplayers Meetup Group) has a new home.
Welcome to our new home. I hope you will find it as comfortable as the old home, if not at least in time even more comfortable and useful in providing a means to find your gaming fun.

Speed-wise, remember that none of this is yet cached by your computer as meetup already is. Everything you do here for some time will be brand new to your system, and will therefore take that little bit linger to download. As the site grows, so too it will be cached to some extent by ISPs as Meetup is, and will be quicker for that reason too.

If you have not been told the whole story, I suggest that you speak to your friends. They should have been able to tell you the whole story months ago. The fact that they did not is not the fault of the group. They were asked to spread the word. Recently we have taken the step of being more open about the move on Meetup, but for some time, all references to this site were coded.

You are of course welcome to continue to use Meetup for other things, but this group is moving from there due to irreconcilable differences. MUHQ have decided several times that what is in our interest is not what is in their interest, and have made damaging unannounced changes and have even crippled the site completely in the past.

I too loved Meetup until it became untenable. This site has cost more, not less than Meetup, but on an ongoing basis, especially when Meetup decide to change their billing arrangements (Which I know they are seriously considering.) it will prove less expensive for the members.

Here YOU control how much email you get. Here, your details will NOT be sold to Facebook. This site is not perfect. However it is OUR site, not one controlled by some corporate folks in New York. Here we the members are in charge of what happens.

I guess that includes me? My name is Trevor. I'm moving to Leicester for at least two years to attend Law School. It will be quite an adventure for me, as I've lived in Canada, where I was born. I've also never traveled any further than to the southern United States. Just don't call me a Yank and we'll get along just fine ;)

I first played D&D when I was 14, although back then it was called AD&D, and I think I may be one of the few people that liked THAC0.

I stopped playing mostly for lack of people to play with until one of the friends who I originally introduced to D&D invited me to play with a new group of friends he had been playing with lately. That was about two years ago. Since then I've become semi-obsessed. So I did a google search for 'Leicester D&D groups' and found you guys!

I look forward to playing with some of you soon.

We have a fairly long association with Canadians. So we are quite used to the fact that you are not yanks, though you will have to realise that many can't tell the difference in accents.

THAC0 was once dear to my heart too, but I made the change eventually. I look forward to meeting you at the second session of 'Short' Armagada. Welcome aboard.

Just moved over from Meetup. Wish I had more time to get involved in playing actual games, but maybe that will change in the near future...

Drew posts: 10 United Kingdom

Hello folks. My name's Drew, I'm 30 and currently living near Long Eaton. Having been a long time lurker/non-poster round the old Meetup boards, your positive move to pastures new has inspired me and I feel it's high time I let my sadly neglected inner adventurer stretch his legs once more.

I'd love to get involved in some D&D round Derby or Notts; hopefully in a very forgiving group with space for an enthusiastic amateur!

I'm looking forward to seeing how the new site develops (good luck, btw), and getting to know everyone a little better.

Cheers!
D

Drew,

Games around here tend to be tagged as "Full", but there are also one-offs or irregular ones.
My "Rise of the Runelords" game was recently recruiting, but we are back to full now.
I usually offer a D&D/Pathfinder game on Saturday afternoons at "Vague Connections", this is always open: "River Into Darkness".

There are also some one-off games being run at "Mondo Comico" from time to time as can be seen on the calendar.

Drop a word on the appropriate threads on the forum if you are interested.

Laurent,

Drew posts: 10 United Kingdom

Thanks for the reply, Laurent. And for the advice - I'll be sure to follow it.

From past experience I know that established gaming groups can be very cliquish and tough to squeeze into. There can't be many new campaigns starting at any given point in time and I honestly don't expect anyone to be handing out game invites just yet! I'm sure as with all things, finding the right group/game will take time.

Meanwhile I can mosey about the forums, make a wiki page or two and let people get to know me (I'm really very nice, wink).

Hey guys, I'm Mike, I'm 22 and a soon-to-be graduate from Leicester Uni. I'll be living in Leicester for the foreseeable future.

I only started playing D&D a couple weeks ago, picked up the new Red Box and have been playing through it with a couple of friends. Hopefully I'll be able to get a space on the next new beginner friendly game in Leicester. Obviously I'm more familiar with 4e but I'm happy to play anything really: 4e, 3.5, pathfinder (don't really know much about this but have heard bits and pieces), or whatever.

Hi Mike. Starbase Leicster recently, (last week), started a D&D 3.5 game to run on a fortnightly basis. You can either contact the group

http://starbaseleicester.spleafnet.com/

or you may be able to turn up next week, 3rd Nov, at Darkside Cafe and see if you can join.

Mike, get yourself to The Big Meet. You stand a great chance of meeting the right folks. Its always easier to get a game with folks you have met, or who have met you.

I shall be heading there myself from Leicester, and will have a space in the car.

BTW Drew, well done on getting a page up there. You did great.

Thanks for the offer, Len. Will you be going for the whole day (from 1 until 10:30 I think) or just part?

Do you have any additional space? I have a friend who might want to come along as well.

Jaxtasha posts: 111

There will def be space in at least one car, if Len can't I will... I am running a 4e game you are welcome in...

Drew,

Our fortnightly friday game now has a space. You'll need to PM Roger who is the DM to get the full laydown. I believe his member information is around here somewhere :o)

Drew posts: 10 United Kingdom

Thanks for the heads up Glenn smile. I'll see what's what...

Hey,
I'm Robbie. I'm a 20 year old unemployed actor. Never played D&D hard as I've tried. Never known enough people interested in starting a group so I've started looking further afield. Doesn't help that I live in the middle of nowhere (the Newark area)
Looking forward to getting to know people who are actually interested in playing

Laurent posts: 1029 United Kingdom

Robbie,

Welcome to the group.
Newark is indeed a bit off the beaten path, which consists mainly of Nottingham, Leicester and Derby for our group.

Most of my activities are in Nottingham. As you should already know, we have a monthly social since it is an all-afternoon and evening matter, this could satiate your gaming needs at least once a month...

Laurent,
