The East Midlands Roleplayers Gaming Group (Formerly The East Midlands Roleplayers Meetup Group) has a new home.
Welcome to our new home. I hope you will find it as comfortable as the old home, if not at least in time even more comfortable and useful in providing a means to find your gaming fun.

Hey Everyone,

been lurking on the forum here for a while and thought I would finally say hello. I'm pretty much a complete beginner when it comes to Table-top RPG, although I have been giving myself a crash course in playing Pathfinder. Currently based in Nottingham (quite near Beeston) and really interested in joining a regular group for some D&D antics, preferably on a weekend.

Going to try and make the April big meet in Derby to say hi.

Cheers,

Karde

Hello everyone :-D

Bit about me? Well i'm new to D&D table top, have played it online (not the same I know hehe) I have always enjoyed watching it been played and have now thought about playing it.

I live in Matlock, Derbyshire, only a train or bus trip away from the cites (Chesterfield, Derby, Nott ... ect)

Hope to get to know you all :-)
Happy Gaming :-DD

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

Welcome James. Good to have you on board.

Matlock as you say is just a train-ride from Derby station, and the Big Meet is held just a stone's throw from the station, at the Brunswick. So no excuses for not making it next month.

We are always there on the second Saturday of every month. Then you can watch from the inside. Not just D&D either. We play lots of things.

Cool :-D would love to go, will have to see what my shift is at work ... What would you say is the best way to get into playing D&D?

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

I would seriously suggest jumping in at the deep end by getting in to one of the games on offer. That way when you eventually get into a regular game, you will have some experience under your belt.

The people you meet at one of the big meets will happily bear with any difficulties you experience at your first game. You would be playing with people whose instinct is to allow a new player to feel at home.

Once you have met people, you are also much more likely to find people who might know of a regular game you could join too.

Okay cool, well I will have to go to a big meet up and see what there is, i'm looking forward to playing :-)

Hi all,

I'm Ben, a recent(ish) convert to the world of tabletop gaming. I've played a bit of 4e with friends (that's what got me started) and a little Pathfinder more recently.

I moved to Nottingham a little shy of a year ago and after dabbling a little in the university RPG society I've decided I want to do a lot more tabletop gaming, so I was pointed in the direction of you lot.

I'm particularly interested in Pathfinder/3.5ed but am open to try just about anything and look forward to getting involved!

Hi there.
My names Matthew and I am currently living in Beeston and am looking to start gaming, My main hobby is MTG but I only really play that Fridays so i have 6 days a week I'm free. I don't have a great deal of experience, But I've played some of the War-Hammer RPG and its sparked my interest. I'm hoping to play some traditional fantasy games, not so bothered about the system as i really don't know the ins and outs of each.

Hi,

I'm Oliver and just joined the group here. I moved to Castle Donington last January and so far didn't have much time for rpgs or board games. But as I have finally settled in now, I am looking to find some people to play all kinds of rpgs, board games or tabletop with.

My all time favourite roleplaying games are Deadlands - The Weird West, WoD Vampire (Masquerade and Dark Ages) and Dungeons & Dragons (3rd Ed), though I enjoy a lot of other games as well; some I just haven't had the chance to get to know better.
Tabletop, I only play WH40k so far, where I have a Space Marines, Tyranids and recently a Blood Angels army. Though I would love to start with Bloodbowl, as I love the computer version of it.
And when it comes to boardgames, almost anything goes.

So, see you around!

Hello there!

My name is Jonas. I stumbled upon this place having gained an interest in tabletop RPG's quite recently. I'm a complete novice to them, but hugely interested in learning how to play and meeting like minded people.

I've been playing computer RPG's since a very young age, as well as reading more fantasy novels and comic books and graphic novels than should likely be allowed.

I currently reside in Chesterfield (delightful little town that it is . . .) So I am within easy reach of Derby and Nottingham.

I hope to be able to meet and game with you, from what I can see you certainly seem a friendly bunch!

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

Damn it!
These customers, ringing me and wanting me to solve their problems at inconvenient times. No consideration these paying customers. evil

I was just about to post a welcome note to you and you got there first. cool Well it shows keen. I hope we can help connect you with a game soon. In the mean time, the Monthly Big Meet has moved to Leicester (The Barley Mow) as our old spiritual home went all pear shaped after the new owners took over. Over seven years of tradition down the drain. cry

Leicester will be a little further for you to travel than Derby/Nottingham, but the opportunity to move the Big Meet to a place run by someone who has always been supportive in the past, at a venue that rivals the old one for travelling convenience, closer to where all the long term attendees lived, was a no-brainer really, once the Brunswick started wanting to charge more for less.

As always, I recommend that you can't do better than attend the December Big Meet. It will put you in touch with people who may be able to help you get into a game.
