The East Midlands Roleplayers Gaming Group (Formerly The East Midlands Roleplayers Meetup Group) has a new home.
Welcome to our new home. I hope you will find it as comfortable as the old home, if not at least in time even more comfortable and useful in providing a means to find your gaming fun.

Hello there,

Looks like people are moving to this new place.

I will set-up a thread for my games and get my players over here at some point.

I am proposing £1 per XP point dished out by GMs to their players. razz

Is it me alone or I cannot see what is on "page 2" of this thread?

The OP message is on what I expect to be "page 2" but this is it.

Same in Firefox as in M$-IE8.

Laurent,

No Laurent, it is not just you there seems to be a pagination glitch. It IS possible to use the filtering system to reverse the order, which actually resolves the issue and allows them all to show. It has not shown up until now because of the numer of posts required to display the behaviour.

I shall add it to the "things for Len to look into" list.
It's not just IE & Firefox either. Opera and Chrome do the same.evil
That at least tells me it is programatical and needs either the php, CSS, or tpl, code looking at.
I am going to temporarily switch to a totally different CSS set to rule that out.
If anyone notices a dramatic difference in the Look and Feel for a few minutes, it was just me.

OK, back to normal, and I have ruled out a CSS issue. My bespoke CSS is not at fault. I wanted to rule that out first, as a mistake by me was the most likely cause. My Battlemat Theme is not the cause. cool

Definitely a pagination issue. I changed the default to 10, and we have the same issue then at the 10th post. when there are three pages.
The display filter does not function with correct thread pagination either.evil

It begins to look like the problem is a combination of things. I MAY have got a handle on it. What looks to be the case is that I tried to make the setting the most similar to the familiar Meetup style, with 20 threads per page, unthreaded posts and most other things defaulting. I can't now get it to display wrongly on Safari, I shall view the same setup on firefox, chrome, opera, & MSIE to see the effects.

The previous complaints dating back several versions all point to a combination of settings that combine to cause problems too.

Laurent posts: 1029 United Kingdom

Yep, it seems to work now.

I guess the threading option, did it. Now we just need to police ourselves and use "Post new message" instead of "Reply" to avoid having the messages slowly creeping to the right.

I'm here, I made it. Eventually.

Welcome to all the new transferees from Meetup.

Its good to see the numbers here slowly rise as people learn about the new site and take the plunge by registering. We are getting the

It will take a while for you to get used to the new site, but there is still plenty of time to learn before we pull the plug on Meetup. If Meetup pull the plug on us early, well, we are ready at least.

I want to offer a special hello to Alex aka lilal665.
Unless I am mistaken, you are our first member who did not first join the old Meetup group. Its not a big step, but it is a step that is also a good omen. We have been open for only 20 days, and are still in the early stages of bringing members across from Meetup, yet we have our first member who is entirely this group from the start.

Len,

Alex got brought in by Owen, a new recruit for "Rise of the Runelords", so indirectly by a Meetup member. It is true however that Alex himself is untainted, the very first innocent and spotless soul of the bunch.

Ritual sacrifice anyone? twisted

Nice to see you finally amble in at last John.
I've given you rights to post games on the calendar so we should start to see some Derby ones too.
Hopefully you will drag your cohorts across too.

Alright peeps!

Found you all at last! What are the plans for other members on 'tother site? Have they just gotta figure out about this new forum, or are they being invited? Or indeed, am I just the last one on the up-take and everyone is already here?

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

We have been relying on people telling each other. (Something that seems not to be happening efficiently.) I actually told you what was going on at the ConQuest event. Perhaps the bar being open made it slip your mind?

When we are ready there will be an announcement, but we are not yet at that state of readiness. In the meantime, spread the word in person.
It is not being announced openly on the other site just yet, because Meetup may well pull the plug before we are fully ready otherwise.

You have images on Meetup, if you want them here, you should copy them and upload them here. It would be a shame to lose your artwork Jonny.

Okey-Dokey Len! I will move them over when I get chancebiggrin

I remember you telling me at conquest, just didn't realise this site was up yet!

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

We are perhaps a little ahead of schedule, but judging from Bruce's posts, we appear to have some folks only too keen to be more independent.

Its like the kids in the back asking "Are we nearly there yet?"
The answer has to be we're nearly ready to leave, but your brother is still playing on his console. - Go tell him to hurry up and pack his stuff.

I see the Canadians are still with us.
Welcome Sandy (wee_alex). Its nice to see you pop your head in on the new site. Leon Malpilote may be undercover, but he ain't dead yet.

Hi, I've registered to the new site OK, but I must be slow, getting old, or missing something major. What was wrong with the old meetup site/ I did not realise this was happening and am very disappointed as meetup runs my life (lots of other social groups)! The new site is at least four times as slow as old meetup (on my system), much more cluncky to use and very hard to navigate. Visually it is not as clear. What happened? Did we fall out with meetup or something - did they want too much money?

Mike
