The East Midlands Roleplayers Gaming Group (Formerly The East Midlands Roleplayers Meetup Group) has a new home.
Welcome to our new home. I hope you will find it as comfortable as the old home, if not at least in time even more comfortable and useful in providing a means to find your gaming fun.

Hello Andy, as Len has said I've got a game going and space for more players but it depends a bit on how local you want your local to be smile. It looks like it would be a good run to get to and from my present place and with any fortune I will be moving in the next month or two to another location in Leciester that would be even further afield for you.

I know of at least one group member based out in Lutterworth but we haven't seen her in quite some time.

If you can I heartily reccomend coming to our monthly gathering in Derby. It is always nice to put face to avatars and it is a lot of fun too and a gaming fix to boot.

Hello Alan.

I'm interested in playing a game in Leicester - and Mondays are possible for me. Where in Leicester does the game take place? What sort of game is it?

I've been playing for around 3 years, though I've been a geek all my life! I've been mainly playing 3.5e, though my group stopped recently. I particularly enjoy the character and role-playing side of things - I'm not so interested in the mechanics and rules. Despite what some people say about 4th edition, I would like to try it as I've seen it work really well and be really fun on video podcasts. And I'm also interested in playing a rules-lite game.

Due to my health, location is crucial for me. I live on Fosse Road Central near Hinckley Road on the west side of Leicester.

Yours,
Martin

Well then Martin I should think you are in luck, I'll send you a private message with some more details this evening, but for now my lunch break is coming rapidly to an end.

Next week we will be starting a new campaigm so the timing is perfect.

Thanks to Alan, I've started going to his BCGA (Board and Card Games at Alan's) evening . For reasons mainly to do with transport, I've not joined his Monday game.

So I'm still looking for a group and a game for tabletop RPG-ing!

I'd be prepared to host it at my flat. See my previous post for what I'm looking for.

skerrigan posts: 142 United Kingdom

Hi Martin- if you come to the Big Meet in Derby or one of the other events we could have a chat. I'm interested in Leicester gaming, and can easily DM if needs be, but it's a case of lack of space in my flat in central Leicester.

When I buy my house it will have a games room in it. wink

Hello there!

I'm a newbie here, but been playing for years; but since my move from Poland to the UK few years ago, I've lost the touch with gaming. I thinks it's time to come back and do what I love!
So... I am a GM and would love to start a game or two in Burton Upon Trent or somewhere nearby. As for the games - I'd love to start with Cyberpunk 2020 (someone does remember that, right?), cause I might be a bit rusty and CP is pretty straightforward, but none the less fun. I love World Of Darkness though (the "classic" one) and that would be the main goal to GM later-- Mage and Vampire, definitely.

Anyone interested?

Hi Michal,Welcome to the group.

You might consider popping in to the Brunswick Inn near the station in Derby on the Second Saturday any month. We meet there every month to play games and to meet other gamers. The Brunswick is a microbrewery that produces some excellent beers, and their food is second to none. That just puts the cherry on top of meeting other friendly gamers and playing with people who may well become your good friends.

We find that it is far easier to find people to play with once they've met you. It just seems to be a comfort thing I guess. If people know you, or their friends have met you and can tell them you are OK an OK guy it just seems to help somehow.

Hi and thanks for welcoming :-)

I thought it to be the case to be honest, I would be hesitant as well to play with someone I don't know... I'm not quite sure whether my finances let me get to Brunswick Inn next Saturday (I see it as a 50-50 chance right now), but I should be able to get to the Grill Party week after - if I'm reading the calendar right; I even try to convince my wife to come with me; she's non-playable creature whatsoever so I probably have some troubles with it :-)

In the meantime I'll try to put the scenario layout onto the forum, so the people will know what they're getting into should they decide to go for it :-D

Stu posts: 3

Hi folks, my name is Stu I'm a pedestrian from Clarendon Park in Leicester. I've recently been running Cubicle 7's The One Ring in an out of my depth fashion for some mates and its been so much fun I thought I might see what else I might be able to join. I played a bit of AD&D and SLA Industries (I still have my SLA books I think!) in the past but a long hiatus for marriage and 2.5 children later and I feel a little out of touch so just wondered what was about in leicester.

Cheers then, S

Hey Stu. You're just across the road from me in Stoneygate. I've got several Cthulhu, Masque of Red Death, D&D, WFRP and Dragon Warriors games I'd love to run otherwise. Currently I'm not running anything mainly because there's no space in my place for a decent number of people to RPG, though some of my chums and I are playing some Advanced Heroquest.

The defacto response is if you want to meet folk there's the monthly game event (which is this weekend) in the Brunswick Inn near the station in Derby. It's the 2nd Saturday of every month.

Awesome's Creek. Hi Stuart, love to have a dabble with any of those, thanks for the welcome!

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

Hi Stu, and welcome.
Lots of Leicester folks drive to the Derby Monthly meet, so getting there is not usually a problem.

Welcome to Edd (Cake?) and his iPod.
Another of those human enough to thwart the auto-bot system we regrettably still need in place.

Welcome aboard. You could do worse than turn up to the big meet at the Brunswick in Derby on the second Saturday in September, where you are assured of gaming goodness, though there is no absolute guarantee it will be of the D&D variety. That said there usually is some D&D on offer. If it Absolutely Definitely must be D&D.

Laurent posts: 1029 United Kingdom

If I can convince my wife to go for a shopping outing in Derby for the next Big Meet, I could try to bring my Pathfinder Beginner Box, which I have opened but never played with, to the September Big Meet.

Pathfinder in D&D Third Edition in all but name.

Laurent,

Welcome Andrew (Elando) who has admirably proved himself human.

Get on here and let us all know a little about you. (I now know things, but other folks are not privy to that email)
So tell us all a bit about who you are, what you are looking for etc. and I'm sure when certain members see you are Nottingham based, they will leap on you with offers of gaming goodness.)

Thanks a lot Len. :-D

So yeah, I'm Andrew, 20 year old college student at South Notts just moved to Netherfield for a bridging course for Uni for a year before moving on but thought I'd join a local gaming group since they were a rare thing where I used to live (Suffolk, it's full of sheep, hills and not much else).

I've been freeform roleplaying for nearly 8 years now with some experience with Dungeons and Dragons on and off throughout, mostly online, but now that I've moved from the sleepy countryside to the city I'm looking for a proper RP group to join.

I'm definitely more of a roleplayer than a "YEAH LETS JUST ROLL SUM DICE!" kind of player, wanting more story and actual roleplay going on than just endless combat and dungeon crawling.

What I'd be looking for would be a group that's just starting a campaign in either D&D 3.5 or 4th ed, Star Wars Saga, any Warhammer 40k games, Firefly/Serenity based games or Steam Punk, possibly Call of Cthulhu if it's Victorian to 1950's era. I'd also be looking for a group that's willing to put up with a reletive noob and who can teach him the ropes on these games whatever they may be.

So that's basically what I told Len. smile

Hope to meet you guys down at the Brunswick this Saturday if I can make it.

Andrew

Welcome to Jake. The latest Human to pass the test.

Lets hope we can help get you in to a game.

Len

Hey
I'm Jake,
Currently based in leicester, I've got almost no experience when it comes to traditional roleplaying, when I say almost I no experience I mean I've never actually played anything that didn't involve a PC. But I've been trying to find some form of group for the past year or two with very little success.
I'd be looking to join pretty much any type of game really so long as people don't mind explaining what I'm supposed to do
