September 2010 Big Meet

Laurent posts: 1029 United Kingdom

Dear Member,

This is the discussion thread for our September 2010 Big Meet.

Obviously, you need to have a look at:

The September Social

The Afternoon Session

The Evening Session

You are:

  • A player.

Discuss the games on offer, what you need to prepare, anything really.

  • A GM.

Describe the game you want to play here in addition to what is to be found on your game page.
Ask for advice on how to format your game page.
Ask the Organising Team member in charge of the event to put your game on the sign up page and linkify everything that needs be linkified, such as a particular game thread in the forum or your game page for instance. Members of the Organising Team should be able to modify the calendar event and tracker pages to include their own games, but I can do it for them too if need be.

  • A new member or a simple observer.

We do not bite, so post away.

And for all of the above, you can discuss transport issues here too.

This is the original post, people are invited to propose more games as soon as possible to allow players some choice and time to make up their minds.

As the new system allows, I am signed as attending all three, but only registered for Hollows.biggrin

Len,

The update is now pretty easy with the "copy event" button.

In order:

  • I create the three events by copy (social, afternoon and evening sessions).
  • I clear, manually all the trackers entries. This is not very obvious, and is slightly time consuming. This might need more development later.
  • Update of the "game pages", this is individual GM stuff.
  • Create a Monthly Big Meet thread such as this one.
  • Update all the links to the right event pages and cross-links to this thread. The game pages are merely updated, so as long as a game is a regular Big Meet offering it is pretty easy.

Just check that they all point to the right locations and not anything from August.

Laurent,

Dear members,

This post effectively rescues this thread from page 3 on the Public Forum.
This sadly shows that the interest for the September Big Meet is close to nil.

Nobody has proposed any game for either the afternoon or evening sessions beyond the ones I dropped by default. If it is acceptable for players to register late, I believe it is our duty as a group to propose some games before the actual date: No game, no incentive for players to come... no Big Meet.

So please bring in your game ideas for the sessions. If your credentials do not allow you to post events, or in this case amend them to add your game, contact Len or Adam. If you find it too complicated to post an event using the new Big Meet format, put its description in a post here and someone will format it for you.
Even if you already have a game in mind with your own players, please post it, this shows life and activity.

Dear Members,

If by tomorrow afternoon, (Friday September 10th) the September Big Meet is only "Len and Me" with Rob coming for the evening session, I shall cancel my games and stay in Nottingham to play at "Vague Connections".

Nobody is proposing any additional game, hardly anybody has signed-up so why should anyone bother?

This thread has been opened since the day after the last Big Meet for all to see. Apathy has won.

Laurent, cut the melodrama, it isn't helpful to anyone. I understand the frustration of not seeing people sign up but rsvp's in particular for big meet attendance has never been anything more than a guideline at the best of times.

Alan,

Well it worked! biggrin

Next month I shall threaten to burn a "4e Player Handbook" if nobody shows up.

Well if it goes ahead will there be pre-gens for the evening sesh?

Laurent posts: 1029 United Kingdom

Rob,

Yep, I have Pathfinder pre-gens and some good old 3.5 pregens.
In fact I would rather "impose" pregens so as to facilitate play in my Big Meet games.

I am pretty sure I have the eleven Paizo iconics for Pathfinder RPG and at least the "basics" (Fighter/Wizard/Cleric/Thief) plus some of the rest (Druid, Paladin, etc) for Hollow's Chronicles (the evening game).

Depending on attendance, I may ask the attendees to bring forward "Hollow's Chronicles" and only play it as a longish session.
In any case, with yourself, Steve, Len and I being signed in there should be a game being run. Len should marshall a couple more people to the Big Meet, so the situation may not look as dire as it does at the moment.

Still, my rant stands: if people do not sign up, other members seeing only a skeleton crew signed in would not be motivated to come, fearing going to Derby for at best a pint but no game.

I could be late for the social, but will aim at making it before two o'clock.
If Len is around, I will text him about my rail journey progress if I know I am going to be late.

See you tomorrow,

Laurent,

I thought I had read about pre-gens earlier but it's always better to check. I'll be there sometime before 5.30 then.

Cheers
