Tabletop Day 5th April 2014

Bruce_C posts: 180 United Kingdom

Is anyone interested in an extra game or event on April 5th in Loughborough or Leicester to coincide with International Tabletop Day ?

Our April meet won't be until the following Saturday but I'm happy to host or organise an event somewhere.

'Tabletop' is a popular 'webseries' on youtube featuring Wil Weaton and the rather lovely Felicia Day. It mostly concentrates on board games but the term tabletop covers everything including RPGs. I'd hope that an event like this might help us recruit some new members and raise our profile as a group.

Thoughts?

The day is particularly appropriate for me. April 5th is Payroll Year end and because it falls on a weekend my payroll customers will be in a particular state of disorganisation. I don't work weekends, so a break, doing something 'Tabletop', would be very welcome.

I'm all for it.

Sounds like a good Brucey Bonus event!

Cool, well as soon as I get the time off work confirmed I'll book a room somewhere. We could use the pub but I thought it might be nice to try somewhere kid/teenager friendly and try and promote it as a 'come along and try' type event but perhaps I'm getting ahead of myself?

I'll bring something D&D ish to run (maybe even use the shiny 40th anniversary box) and I'll bring my grand collection of two boardgames.

I could run a Zombicide game, or Pandemic.

No joy with Leicester city library (they have two other events on that day) so we might be back in the pub unless anyone else has any suggestions for a one off venue in Leicester?

Zombiecide looks good fun!

I've got the day off from work confirmed and now need to confirm a venue. Has anyone got any suggestions for an accessible venue before we commit (and restrict) ourselves to the pub?

I might have access to space at a smaller library at Shepshed (morning only) Is that too far away?

Shepshed is not 'near' any of the main centres. I think we have to consider nearness for most people Bruce. We can only really cover one of the centres. We know we'll probably be OK with the pub. But it would be good to get a few younger players on board.

Yeah, my thoughts too to be honest, I think limiting to the morning is a bad move too.

OK, I think we should go for the pub, would someone be able to check that we can use the upstairs area on that date? (I won't be at the March meet myself and unlikely to be in Leicester in between)

I think the legal age to enter a pub is 14 without drinking alcohol, we should perhaps check if they have any restrictions?

EDIT: Any more volunteers to run anything? Board games, Card games or RPGs!

If anyone has the chance to put up a poster or to anywhere in or around Leicester it would be much appreciated.
