The February 2014 Big Meet

Bruce_C posts: 180 United Kingdom

Dear Members,

This is the discussion thread for our February 2014 Big Meet on (Saturday 8th).

Obviously, you need to have a look at:

The Social

The Afternoon Session

The Evening Session

You are:

A player.

  • Discuss the games on offer, what you need to prepare, anything really.
  • Ask kindly if someone else could run a game for you. Demand could create offer after all.

A GM

  • Describe the game you want to play here in addition to what is to be found on your game page.
  • Ask for advice on how to format your game page.
  • Ask the Organising Team member in charge of the event to put your game on the sign up page and linkify everything that needs be linkified, such as a particular game thread in the forum or your game page for instance. Members of the Organising Team should be able to modify the calendar event and tracker pages to include their own games, but I can do it for them too if need be.

A new member or a simple observer.

We do not bite, so post away.

And for all of the above, you can discuss transport issues here too.

This is the original post, people are invited to propose games as soon as possible to allow players some choice and time to make up their minds.

F.A.Q.?

There is a page of general information about The Big Meet yes.

Hint.

"No game, thus no play makes us pretty dull boys" (and girls), so do not be shy and run something!

Sticky.

This thread will remain as a "sticky" until the this Big Meet has passed, then it will become a normal thread again. After that, you will still be able to comment on the event, but entropy should ensure the thread's slow death and let the newer thread for the current Big Meet take centre stage.

Things may change but currently work has me 'standing by' for most of February and I see no reason why I can't 'stand by' in a pub playing RPGs so I intend to be there and I'll try and have something to run if needed.

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

Sounds fair to me. you can stand by in a pub just as easy as at home, and you can tell 'em you'll be that bit closer too.

Thanks for 'standing by' and posting the Big Meet too Bruce.

Len

No problem, quite happy to help out but please shout if you notice any glaring errors or omissions, I'm still finding my way around. I also don't want to step on anyone's toes by jumping in and 'doing stuff' so please shout up!

Damn you Bruce, you are good, all your links are working.
At this rate, people might even forget me! Especially that old fart Len... wink

Glad to read about the new home at the Barley Mow.

Laurent,

Good to hear from you Laurent and thanks for the vote of confidence! Hope all is well with you?

Leicester City (football) play Watford at home, kick off 15:00 so the pub could well be busy before the match. Tigers play the night before.

Alas, I can't make this one after all. I'll be visiting some west country friends.
Have a good one.

You'd only be stepping on that Froggie's flippers Bruce. You are doing great.

So, has anyone got anything to run this month?

If there's nothing else going on I fancy running a Dungeon Crawl Classics character funnel. DCC has some old school feel (race as class for example) but it uses the D20 core mechanic so is easy to get into. In a character funnel each player starts with four or five level ZERO characters of various occupations with the hope that one or two might make it through to become a proper level 1 hero. I'll bring pregens to make life easier.

Of course if anyone else wants to run stuff that's cool too!

I'm now working a night shift tonight so whilst that frees me up for tomorrow's session I might not be functioning at 100%. A bad night shift can leave me with CON and CHA damage!

I'll still try and have something to run but can't promise!

Bruce
