Labyrinth Lord Game in Loughborough

Bruce_C posts: 180 United Kingdom

For those of you who know me I'm still here and for those of you who don't "Hello" would probably be a good place to start I suppose?

I've not made it to a Derby meet for a long while because my weekends off are pretty sacred and finding a regular game is impossible because of the shifts I work, but I've got the itch to play again so I thought I'd post something here to see if I could drum up any local interest.

I'm trying to gauge interest initially in a one off game in the Loughborough area (either at my home or possibly at a local ale house) I'm a fairly inexperienced DM but I'd like to run a session using the rules I'm most familiar with (old school 'Basic D&D' aka BECMI or one of the 'retro clones' of the same) I'd be running a simple adventure which I'd aim to wrap up in one session if possible, just to get my hand back in.

Of course if there are still people playing anything in Loughborough who wouldn't mind me joining in I'd be up for that too, but due to work commitments (and simply having too many hobbies and not enough time!) I can't commit to anything.

Cheers,

Bruce

Just updating this because I've finally got a game started at home and there is space for a couple more players. I still can't manage a regular session so we're taking it one date at a time, give me a shout if you're interested!

I ran the second session of this game this last week, I'm now up to four players which is giving a nice balanced party. It's great to have a 'home game' at last and I'm really enjoying watching the story unfold!

Last session our four intrepid adventurers completed 'Time For A Change' an adventure I wrote to kick off the campaign. I tweaked it a little having previously run it as a 'one shot' a couple of times. The last part was more disjointed than I would have liked and I wasn't as well prepared as I should have been, but as always the players actions have shaped the story and I liked how it panned out. I'd like to finish writing it up at some point with the intention of publishing (as a free or PWYW download) in the future.

Last night's session started well with the player characters invited to attend a meeting of the town council where the fate of the villain from the previous three sessions was discussed. A little old fashioned roleplaying occurred when the party was almost accused of witchcraft. Thauem is fairly low magic setting where such 'arts' are not trusted! The folk of Redwood Mill are divided in their opinion of the adventurers but most were glad to see them leave town when they were offered the job of escorting Father Dalgaard (of the Brotherhood Of The Everbright Flame) on an expedition to a place known as 'Stonehell' (using an old school 'Megadungeon' adventure which has slotted nicely into my campaign)

I ran our fifth session last night and I must be doing something right because we've planned the next one just a week away in an effort to fit a session in before one of the players goes away for a fortnight. I'm really enjoying running the players through the introduction to Stonehell but wont post details here to avoid spoilers for anyone who might play though this in the future. The next session should see the party enter the dungeon proper.

My Labyrinth Lord game is still running, although we try to meet fortnightly we're closer to once a month at the moment. There's a chance I might have a place for an new player so if anyone is interested please get in touch.
