The March 2013 Big Meet

Laurent posts: 1029 United Kingdom

Dear Members,

This is the discussion thread for our March 2013 Big Meet.

Obviously, you need to have a look at:

The March 2013 Social

The Afternoon Session

The Evening Session

You are:

A player.

  • Discuss the games on offer, what you need to prepare, anything really.
  • Ask kindly if someone else could run a game for you. Demand could create offer after all.

A GM

  • Describe the game you want to play here in addition to what is to be found on your game page.
  • Ask for advice on how to format your game page.
  • Ask the Organising Team member in charge of the event to put your game on the sign up page and linkify everything that needs be linkified, such as a particular game thread in the forum or your game page for instance. Members of the Organising Team should be able to modify the calendar event and tracker pages to include their own games, but I can do it for them too if need be.

A new member or a simple observer.

We do not bite, so post away.

And for all of the above, you can discuss transport issues here too.

This is the original post, people are invited to propose games as soon as possible to allow players some choice and time to make up their minds.

F.A.Q.?

There is a page of general information about The Big Meet yes.

Hint.

"No game, thus no play makes us pretty dull boys" (and girls), so do not be shy and run something!

Sticky.

This thread will remain as a "sticky" until the March Big Meet has passed, then it will become a normal thread again. After that, you will still be able to comment on the event, but entropy should ensure the thread's slow death and let the newer thread for the current Big Meet take centre stage.

I'll be there. I might dig out WFRP: Nobelesse Oblige and run it for the second time.

I'll be there. Last chapter of Demonwebs! :-D Lifes gonna get . . . interesting . . . from here on out!

Heya all,

Further to my last mail, I've been asked if I could playtest a scenario for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 2nd Edition called "Revolutions in Progress". I'm thinking of doing that at this month's big meet if there's interest.

This is a scenario set in Bretonnia and heavily involving both Brets and wood elves of Athel Loren, and is set to be included in the final release Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay fan-supplement Defenders of the Forest (a beta version of which is available here: note this is a 100 page pdf).

I'd be looking for 3-6 players (ideally 4). Pregens will be provided, and a basic outline of the rules - and will include a knight errant, an elven wastrel/roguey type, a wood elf outrider, a peasant (more fun than it sounds as he has bucket loads of skills and allows one to channel your inner Baldrick), probably a grail damsel/hedge wizard and whatever else my fevered imagination - a dwarf with an axe no doubt. :-)

An example sheet can be seen here.

Ah. Dwarf with axe. Sounds like a familiar. Very happy to take part but could be torn as I now have commitments to the d&d campaign (dwarf with axe, again). Let me know which way you want me to swing - I find overarm reaches parts usually out of reach.

Am slowly building fluff for a barony in the south of Wissenland in the foothills of the black and grey mountains, fairly close to Bretonnia, so would be delighted to run a character from there if required.

Does Last Chapter also mean last session of Demon Webs Josh, or are we just on the home straight?

Len

From my memory, I think Josh said that the last chapter is quite a bit longer than the others we've done, and I don't think we've yet managed a whole chapter in a single session (though I could be wrong about that).

I shall be there, with board games no less and bare minimum there shall be exodus s2 in the box of gaming goodies ready for some zombie fueled roleplay funs if anyone fancies some of that particular brand of maddness.

It's beginning to feel like the March big Meet, (Our SEVENTH Birthday) will be a good one. I have just remembered that I will actually be LARPing though. I do hope you boys and girls make a show of it.

Len

I'll be there. Will have the prison with me also and some board games.

Looking forward to Demonwebs though ... last chapter.. exciting.

Charlie posts: 202 United Kingdom

You all'll be without me this Saturday too now! ... I hope that noise isn't you lot cheering! :o Something about Mothers day being on Sunday not being good enough these days!

Oh well, y'all have fun. I know it'll be difficult, but try your best.

skerrigan posts: 142 United Kingdom

Well, that was fun, and thanks to the playtest group. Our author Jude would like us to continue next month, so hopefully we will.

Also I think the D&D group washed some more demon spiders down the plughole or something. :-)

Laurent posts: 1029 United Kingdom

Hello,

Well, I could not make this one, which should have been my last one, due to the need to arrange for my removal to North West London, at the end of the month.
I guess I shall soon leave the group as my location as of April would become quite a stretch on the "East Midlands" bit of our website's name. This means that I will miss all the flame-wars about D&D 5th Edition when it is finally out! Not fair!

Glad the Big Meet went well and I hope you will all carry-on enjoying them. As for I, I will need to find another group of weirdos to play RPGs and board-games with inside the M25! wink

I will contact Len and Alan regarding finding someone to replace me once a month on the posting of the next Big Meet events, starting of the new thread, etc.
This is not too difficult, this is merely an exercise in copy/paste and replacing the name of the month really. Every now and then, the pages require further editing when the games on offer change, but nothing fantastically complex. So, volunteers would be welcome, one needs only to have "GM rights" on the site so that they can edit the calendar.

Laurent,
