This will be the beginning of our seventh (Yes, seven full years.)
The March Big meet will be the Seventh anniversary of the first Big Meet held in the very same place, on the second Saturday in pretty much every month since then.
There have been only a few times we have held it anywhere else. Because of the football crown on home match days, we tried going to Nottingham and Leicester. It worked, but it was not as successful as simply waiting out the time till all the footy-fans went to their match. We have had the event at both Burton's Beer & Pretzels and Derby's own Con~Quest rather than trying to compete against the annual Conventions.
But on the whole, the most successful events have been at our spiritual home in The Brunswick Inn, Station Road, Derby, where we get to have one of the three rooms, just for the price of people buying a drink and or some of their delicious food. Its convenient to the trains and buses and car parking is not too bad either. Nowhere has yet surpassed 'the Brun' for its food, and so far two of the bar staff have become members themselves.
So Happy new year folks. Lets look forward to much gaming in the new year.
Happy new year
