The September 2012 Big Meet

Laurent posts: 1029 United Kingdom

Dear Members,

This is the discussion thread for our September 2012 Big Meet.

Obviously, you need to have a look at:

The September 2012 Social

The Afternoon Session

The Evening Session

You are:

A player.

  • Discuss the games on offer, what you need to prepare, anything really.
  • Ask kindly if someone else could run a game for you. Demand could create offer after all.

A GM

  • Describe the game you want to play here in addition to what is to be found on your game page.
  • Ask for advice on how to format your game page.
  • Ask the Organising Team member in charge of the event to put your game on the sign up page and linkify everything that needs be linkified, such as a particular game thread in the forum or your game page for instance. Members of the Organising Team should be able to modify the calendar event and tracker pages to include their own games, but I can do it for them too if need be.

A new member or a simple observer.

We do not bite, so post away.

And for all of the above, you can discuss transport issues here too.

This is the original post, people are invited to propose games as soon as possible to allow players some choice and time to make up their minds.

F.A.Q.?

There is a page of general information about The Big Meet yes.

Hint.

"No game, thus no play makes us pretty dull boys" (and girls), so do not be shy and run something!

Sticky.

This thread will remain as a "sticky" until the September Big Meet has passed, then it will become a normal thread again. After that, you will still be able to comment on the event, but entropy should ensure the thread's slow death and let the newer thread for the current Big Meet take centre stage.

WFRP: Once Upon a Time in Marienburg will tentatively run at this Big Meet.

Charlie posts: 202 United Kingdom

I'll not be making it to this one folks! Sorry. sad
I know! Shock-horror! How ever will you get by without me!? ... Don't answer that. neutral

Annnnnd I'm back. Thus Demonweb Pits can continue. :-D

Alan posts: 321 United Kingdom

I should be there, I'll try and find the time to prep the next red eye scenario, Exodus will be available and the usual board games. Gotta do my bit for variety.

skerrigan posts: 142 United Kingdom

Ooh! Red Eye! More terror and player breaking!

Laurent posts: 1029 United Kingdom

Dear all,

Alright, I should be around. Depending on my having the time to prepare something during the week, I could run a Pathfinder Beginner Box session. If not, I will most likely stay around for a couple of drinks and whatever board-game activity.

Laurent,

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

I'll be there, barring acts of Evil Gods. Can run, will have something to run with me, but will very gladly play.

Len

Alan posts: 321 United Kingdom

Sadly I've not found the time to prep more red eye yet and looking at the week ahead I am going to try and fit it in, but it is not looking good. We'll see but it might just be exodus and board games from I.

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

Exodus is great fun. I would be up for that again.
Greenskin Potion suffered from a player/schedule issue last time I ran it, but I still have it in reserve. One of those weird scenarios that mean you can die during character generation.twisted

I'm fully intending to be there - keen for Demonweb Pits, Exodus, Red Eye of Azethoth, Pathfinder, or anything else, really.

Anyone able to advise on times and more importantly costs of public transport to and from the Brunswick to Netherfield? Preferbly something that's extrmely cheap. Being a poor student means every little helps.

If someone lives round here and could give me a lift that'd be even better. I promise I'm quite possibly maybe not a serial killer or anything of the sort, don't have the micro-management skills to lead a double life that complicated. frown

If anyone's thinking of running some kind of beginners game that day of pretty much anything, even better!

Alan posts: 321 United Kingdom

I don't think it is very helpful for you but there is this page about The Big Meet with some information on travel and other bits of information which probably just means someone in the know should update the page. As mentioned there asking for a lift generally works pretty well but there seems to be few Driving members in Nottingham. A quick look at trains suggests they might be feasible from Nottingham though to/from netherfield is more tricky unless you don't mind cycling and can do so.

Hopefully someone more local can provide you more useful input.

And game wise, beginners are always welcome at games (well, there is sure to be some exception there usually is but I've not heard of one yet) so you'll have no worries there.

Right well I can make it tomorrow but only until 6 or 6.15 at the latest as I've a wedding reception to go to and if I'm late Michelle will be feeding my sensitive bits to a mincer.

ill get to the pub around 1.45ish unless things will kick off any earlier?

Elando posts: 3

Hey guys,

Just found out about the beginners Pathfinder game starting up in Nottingham's Vague Connections store this Saturday so suffice to say it'll be 10x easier getting there than to Derby so I'll pass on this this time and head over there instead.

Charlie posts: 202 United Kingdom

I suppose it's too late to point out that I will actually be in attendance today, despite my previously indicating the contrary... Seeing as I need to leave in the next 15 minutes I hardly think it was worth the post, but oh well.

Oh and Elando. I can personally guarantee you would have had infinitely more fun at the Big Meet than in Nottingham... and by guarantee I mean 'at a guess', and by personally I mean 'Don't blame me but...', and 'infinitely' may or may not have been an exaggeration of some description... and I think 'fun' might be a little subjective too. biggrin

Fellow Big-Meet attendees,

Nice to see you all for a quick game of Pandemic, which we won relatively easily thanks to a good combination of roles I guess.

Sorry about the Arkham Horror game I pushed to play then left without even starting; my other half had finished shopping and shook the leash for me to go home. sad

I shall set-up the next event tomorrow or soon anyway.

Laurent,

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

It was nice to see you again Laurent. We ended up not being able to finish the Arkham game after all. It was taking an age, and we were winning. We decided to halt it in order to start the Demon Web Pits game.
