The Gathering Storm - Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

Paladin posts: 219

Dispatched from the large town of Ubersreik to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a merchant called Florin Welcher, is the Bailiff Dundoon and the Watchman Sergeant Charles Kain. Having managed to avoid drowning in the river when the bridge ahead collapsed, they've made it into town and have begun their investigation.

A new campaign and a new set of characters finds two members of the Ubersreik Judiciary seeking a vanished man in the stormy town of Stromdorf with very little idea of where to even begin!

Because I cannot make it to the next Big Meetup and because it would be lovely to try and get a regular group together (probably at Big Meetup) in order to play this campaign, we are going to try and organise a session some weekend before hand.

Currently I've marked it down as the 15th, as that was indicated to be possibly oki by both Len and Charlie. If anyone who would like to play has any other dates that would be more suitable for them, then please pipe up! I'm looking for between four and five characters into total, to try and stop the game getting bogged down in bodies.

So if you are interested, then chip in! :-D

Baliff Krämer Dundoon Schiffbauer. Yes, my Father Kaufmann Schiffbauer, called me Krämer but kept my original name of Dundoon, as though it is admitedly an unusual foreign sounding name, it was my first given name. I am proud of it, and find that using it draws less misunderstanding and fewer comments about the remnants of my North Albion accent. [Smiles, a disarmigly winning smile.]

That is indeed a smile your character possesses that is calculated to be awesome.

I grin and you like me more? Amazing. :-D

But yes, a couple more justicey type characters would work very well in this group. Perhaps a righteous Priest or a cunning scout to track badguys. Perhaps a firey Bright Wizard to burn the wicked or a hired bounty hunter after a few coins . . .

Charlie posts: 202 United Kingdom

The Chief Justice of Ubersreik has dispatched Bailiff Dundoon and Sergeant Kain with all haste to unravel the mysterious vanishing of the handsome pony... oh, and some coal merchant or something? Should be easy, who can resist Dundoon's 'Winning smile'? No one that can also resist his massive mace! eek Erm... that may have taken on a whole new threatening implication. eek

Next stop; The Stew Pot, for some fine Halfling recipe Thunder-ale pie while we await back-up... Hopefully we'll be sent the very pinnacle of excellence that the Ubersreik Judiciary system has to offer... failing that we'll just have to deputize a couple of promising yokels... how about the cheerful halfling inn-keeper!? biggrin

EDIT:
Oh, by the way, turns out it's the Friday that I'll be busy, not either Saturday or Sunday as I implied! What? I may give the impression of perfection, but I am indeed occasionally flammable fallible. Point bein' - Saturday 15th ought'ta be fine!

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

My real father once told me. "Talk softly, but carry a big stick." He may only have been some barbaric native from Albion who sold his youngest child to buy bread, but his advice seems good. My adopted father taught me that lots of things get overlooked when they observers eyes are dazzled by gold. No advice about sticks, but he also said that gold can work like wax in the ears and can still the tongue too. (He also said my mother cried when I was taken, and that I should know we would all have starved to death if he had not purchased me for a fair price. I should learn that my life is worth the lives of all my siblings as well as my parents.) He has taken me in to his heart completely. I am his son and heir. He is a good man my father.

I prefer the three S's. Smile, Stare, Smack. One of the three often gets the job done. If I do it right, its usually one of the first two. But the mace is always there as backup, just in case.
Note to self. Start a rumour about "Steve", whose prices were so low he went out of business in days. Can't let a good story turn and bite me in the arse.

Sounds awesome guys. :-D Love the fact that we are getting some really awesome characterisation going on. :-D

Now all we need to do is grab a couple more bodies. :-D

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

Bodies you say?

I'll wager that no good brother-in-law of mine is involved.

It would not surprise me to learn he was secretly a killer and hiding bodies. Did I tell you I am convinced he beats my sister? She won't hear a word against him, but she was never so clumsy as to walk into doors and split her lip before she married that scumbag. His eyes are too far apart to be right. Mark my words, one day the truth will out. All nicey-nicey when he talks to our father, but its a different matter when he's out of earshot. He just wants the family business if you ask me.

Oh, Not bodies like that? OK, forget I ever mentioned it. Just riles me sometimes is all.

Paladin posts: 219

That's the benefit of being a member of the judiciary. ;) Could always investiage him. You know, on your time off. :-D

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

If I can, without upsetting the sister or causing woe for the family, I might. But it's not a high priority. We have a certain Florin Welscher to find first. ... and if the damned rain ever stops.

The town is famous for the rain. I would possibly advise against holding your breath. Or looking up. Or lurking under the eaves of houses. Or going outside. Or expecting your shoes to survive. :P

And yes we -are- looking for more players and yes we -are- playing this weekend.

Though probably -not- at the Brun, since its a football weekend. Stupid footballers.

So, we'll probably play at my flat here in sunny Derby instead.

Only thing I will say, and I'll remind everyone closer to the time who's coming, is that I own a grand total of -two- chairs (yes Len, I've aquired another one :P) sooooo . . . bring a dining/computer chair. :P

skerrigan posts: 142 United Kingdom

Sounds great - though the chairs might be a problem. :-)

Paladin posts: 219

Well, technically I have two arm chairs, a foot stool and a big ole ammo crate, so I could seat a fair number of people, but more comfort is always good. I'll see who else is coming and see how many chairs I can arrange by then too. ;)

In other news, my place is very close to town, including a very reasonable chippy, a less reasonable takeaway and happens to be in the same city as Three Chefs, which produces the finest pizzas I've ever had. :-D Also, I won't mind if you lot decide to bring a castle load of caffine. :P

How are you thinking of getting to Derby, Ske?

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

I might donate a chair. (You CAN'T have my African chair, no matter how much you beg.)

Len

Paladin posts: 219

Its oki Len, the African Chair wouldn't go with my decor. ;)

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

OK, just to prove the chief's chair goes with any decor, I shall bring it as well, and take it home again after the game. DM chair (of doom). cool

Len

skerrigan posts: 142 United Kingdom

@Paladin I will be driving, and will bring the missus as she seems quite keen to play a complete scenario for once :-)

The problem lies in the fact that I have a couch and a throne in my house (ok, not a real throne but it's a pretty heavy chair).

Charlie posts: 202 United Kingdom

Don't think I've got anything seat-like I can just bung in the car besides a cushion or two! neutral

On the other hand I do have a nice box of chocolates (Sorry no donuts for the officers of the law).

I feel like compiling a Gene-Genie Life on Mars inspired list of Ubersreik Watch cop lingo! biggrin Can't resist a glossary of terms me!

Look forward to seeing folk on Saturday and finding out what fine upstanding members of the law, or wayward neer-do-wells will be joining the Bailiff and the Sergeant. On a side note: The Sarge and Bailiff - Excellent name for a pub!

Oh, also; what's the correct mode of address when greeting a Bailiff such as Dundoon? Sir? Boss? M'lord? Oiy you, with the big stick and dazzling smile?

Paladin posts: 219

If you are one of the people attached to assist him, then it depends on your relationship with him, but I suspect 'sir' would suffice. If you are a scuzzy peasent then probably 'mi'lud'. :P

And its alright, Charlie and Ske, I understand the issue about furniture. *laughs* I have two arm chairs, an ammo crate and a foot-rest-thing. So if Mr Len brings a chair for himself, then we should have places for bums at least. I'll try and get some more furniture when I get paid tomorrow too. :-)

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

I shall also bring one of my "typist" chairs for you to keep dude.

Len

Paladin posts: 219

Sofa purchased. :-D Still bring chairs, if you can, anyhow, just in case, but I now have a total of two arm chairs and a two seater sofa. Wooo. :-D

So, for the record, the address is Flat 5, 39 Charnwood Street. I'm not gonna put in the postcode, cause I'd like to avoid the Google Bugs eating that particular piece of info, but I'm sure you can all work it out. ;)

If any of you want my mobile number, drop me an inboxed message and I'll give it to you. :-)

We are looking at rocking up at about ONE pm, ya'll!

See ya tomorrow! :-D
