July 2011 Big Meet

Laurent posts: 1029 United Kingdom

Dear Members,

This is the discussion thread for our July 2011 Big Meet.

Obviously, you need to have a look at:

The July 2011 Social

The Afternoon Session

The Evening Session

You are:

A player.

  • Discuss the games on offer, what you need to prepare, anything really.
  • Ask kindly if someone else could run a game for you. Demand could create offer after all.

A GM

  • Describe the game you want to play here in addition to what is to be found on your game page.
  • Ask for advice on how to format your game page.
  • Ask the Organising Team member in charge of the event to put your game on the sign up page and linkify everything that needs be linkified, such as a particular game thread in the forum or your game page for instance. Members of the Organising Team should be able to modify the calendar event and tracker pages to include their own games, but I can do it for them too if need be.

A new member or a simple observer.

We do not bite, so post away.

And for all of the above, you can discuss transport issues here too.

This is the original post, people are invited to propose games as soon as possible to allow players some choice and time to make up their minds.

Hint.

"No game, thus no play makes us pretty dull boys" (and girls), so do not be shy and run something!

Sticky.

This thread will remain as a "sticky" until the July Big Meet has passed, then it will become a normal thread again. After that, you will still be able to comment on the event, but entropy should ensure the thread's slow death and let the newer thread for the current Big Meet take centre stage.

Dear Members,

Events and threads

The July Big Meet should be all set-up.

Josh.

I have created this page for your game
Please edit it and present your game there. You may rename the page of course. If you encounter any problem, send me a PM.
You should enter yourself as the GM of course, it is better to do so from the afternoon session sign-up page.

Pathfinder adventure.

I shall most probably running another adventure at the July Big Meet during the afternoon session. I have yet to decide which one.

Usual call for games.

Anybody interested in running a game is welcome to talk about it in this thread, The Organiser Team can provide advice on how to create page, register the game, etc.

The June 2011 discussion thread is still active for comments on the games that were played, but the May 2011 one has now been locked.

Sign-in.

Although nobody would be turned away from the pub on the Big Meet day for not being signed-in; if you are thinking about attending, please hit the "add me" button. This allows for people to see that others are committed to show-up, thus can potentially attract those who fear to show-up for nothing or not much.

See you hopefully on Saturday July 9th,

Laurent,

I would be quite happy to run either Geist: The Sin Eaters or some Dark Heresy in either the afternoon or the evening slot, if anyone would be interested in playing it. :-)

Run it, and people will play it. - Usually.

In that case, I'll be there with Geist ready to run :-)

I'm afraid I won't be in the county for this one, so I've taken down the WFRP game. I'm also at an Event in Aug too, so not doing very well! It will, however, be back the NEXT month. :-D

Are you sure about that? :P

Laurent posts: 1029 United Kingdom

I will get to set-up the games (mine too) later today, time permitting.

Laurent,

I've started a wiki page for general information about The Big Meet. The very basics are in there but there is a lot that could be added by most any poster here - just saying biggrin - all I wanted to do was let folks know about the skylink bus service from Leicester to be honest but it seemed like a page begging to be made. So I did.

Laurent posts: 1029 United Kingdom

Fellow Big Meet attendees,

I am sorry but I will not be able to make it to the Brunswick this weekend. I should be at the BBQ though.

Milly

The page Geist The Sin Eaters has been created, you can add your game description there.
The game is also registered on the Afternoon session page. You add yourself as the GM there or on the corresponding sign-up sheet.

Alan

I have corrected your Big Meet page. It said "third Saturday of the month", which was a glaring mistake! You heretic! smile

Laurent,

I will make the meet this month but probably wont be able to stay long.

I'll try and bring something short, simple and old skool to run in case an extra game is needed.

Cheers,

Bruce

Alan posts: 321 United Kingdom

Laurent, all I can say is brainfart. No other excuse, even being somewhat displaced for 18 months is no defence. Ta for that.

skerrigan posts: 142 United Kingdom

Hey all,

Paladin - sorry to hear there's no WFRP this month or next, I was really looking forward to it. If people want I'll happily run a one-off WFRP 2E scenario to cover the absence and keep the obligatory grim and gritty ambience going til September.

Stuart

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

Rip that man's arm of before he has a chance to change his mind. Someone is BOUND to want to play. Even if you just bring the where-with-all to run it in case there is a player surplus.

Len

skerrigan posts: 142 United Kingdom

Ok- I have a scenario in mind and numerous pre-gen characters so that if there is an interest we can skip character generation and get straight to the grim and perilous world of Warhammer.

Bruce_C posts: 180 United Kingdom

Sorry, not going to make it today after all.

Laurent posts: 1029 United Kingdom

Hello,

I hope something happened. Again sorry for not showing-up. My wife and I had a car to collect, then shopping ensued, etc.

The others from the Nottingham contingent could not make it either for various personal reasons.

Laurent,

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

There were enough for a small, one might almost say intimate, game of WHFRP.

My thanks to Stuart for running a fine game, which we ended up stopping before it was completed. My apologies to all for being the fader at the end, but as I said, I was by then in too much pain to be able to give the intricate plot much of my flagging brainpower. Hopefully we can finish off at a future event, maybe next month.

We slagged of the French all day and got away with it too. Well, we would have done if there was a Frenchman to slag off. As it was, we simply enjoyed ourselves. Barman Chris was working his last day at the Brun. Which hopefully means he can join us once more rather than popping along every month and wishing he could join us instead of serving us.

Some may be aware that Chris joined the group because he was the first of many "converts". "What are you guys doing?" "Wow, I've always wanted to have a go at that." But he was always too busy working to get to play much.

Len

Bruce_C posts: 180 United Kingdom

Sorry I didn't make it for the game and also to see Chris as I'd arranged to take some books off his hands!

I took a tumble and bashed my knee up whilst running the Beacon Hill Trail Run on Friday night and didn't really feel like going out.

As usual though wish I'd made the effort!

Sorry,

Bruce

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

See Bruce, all that "healthy" running is not good for you.
I hope your knee is not too bad.

Len

skerrigan posts: 142 United Kingdom

Hi all,

Thanks to Len for his kind words - I was quite rusty after having not DM'd in 4-5 years but we seemed to pick up pace despite some minor problems with the pre-gen characters (made by Games Workshop, not merolleyes!) and losing and gaining players at regular, but well chosen, intervals.

Addendum - write up of the session is here We should finish the scenario next month. I'll also be able to insert a few more (player!) characters into the mix if anyone else wants to join in.
