Hi There!

Hi,

I'm Matt I live and work in Nottingham and am currently looking to join a Dnd group. For the past year I've played using maptools, which is fun but it feels as thought it is missing that "around the table feeling".

Part of the problem is that I don't know any "real" people intrested in playing, my freinds and family aren't intrested, and I work unsoicalbe hours.

So I was wondering if anybody here had some advice to help find similar minded individuals?

Matt,

There's lots of similar minded individuals in Nottingham. Get yourself to Vague Connections, and speak to Andy, who is the Ginger-Overlord of the place.wink Tell him Len said to help get you in a game.twisted

If there isn't a game currently being played in his dungeon/cellar, then he will be able to tell you when the next one is scheduled for. Or at least put you in touch with others. (I am fairly sure you will find some of them scheduled on our calendar, but its advisable to have a word with whoever is running the game.)

Also, on the 2nd Saturday of every month at the Brunswick in Derby, is our monthly Big Meet. Next one on June 11th. Where folks from all over the East Midlands get together for the nefarious purpose of playing just the sort of "round the table" game you are seeking. They also serve great food, and delicious beer brewed on the premises. Friendly gamers, good food, good beer, and roleplaying to boot. You'd be mad not to be tempted.

I've used Maptools in the past too, and as you say, it's good, but it ain't "round the table".

I was talking with Ginga yesterday. I believe he has plans for running a new game (based on the Carrion Crown adventure path). Not sure when he's going to start it though... but keep an eye out for it on the calender.

If you wanted to join a game that has already started, I could probably fit you round the table in my Kingmaker game (every other Friday at Vague Connections).

Hi and welcome Madaxemat, you mention unsociable hours. I've done those before and they can make fitting in gaming a real pain. Could you tell us a bit more about that? As you can see there are a bunch of games happening and people to meet so hopefully you can find something that fits.

Hi,

Thanks for the warm welcome!

@ Len
I'll certainly check out vague connections, I think I've walked past that a few times. Is that the one just off derby road?

@Alan

My hours aren't aweful but there not great. Essentially I'm free sundays to tuesdays. Which generally means when I'm on my weekend everybody else is working. "Weeknights" aren't really possible as I don't normally finish before 7 pm.

@Harper

Thanks for the offer but fridays are a no go for me.

Cheers,

Matt

You may also wish to check out Mondo Comico (Nottingham City Center) or Chimera in Beeston as both have regular groups and games.

Mondo has two regular groups on a Tuesday and one fortnightly group on a Sunday. Chimera I'm not sure about but, definitely worth popping in and having a look around.
