Ok all set up and we are ready to play Yeah!
Ian,
Let's be the first to crap on that thread then
Laurent,
Cool, I'm going to put together my character tonight. I'll just need to have a look through the traits (I think that's the word, I'm having a mental block) tomorrow and I should be good to go.
no worries ding i will just need to witness the roles for the stats but by all means get all others bits sorted, that way we shall be able to start sooner
Work allowing... would I be able to join?
(I grant you my life outside of gaming does not allow me to be the most reliable of gamers)
All right Makoa is ready to use his greataxe.
I have taken the following traits:
Brute gives me my weapon critical multiplier (3 for a Greataxe) as additional damage on a critical threat (no need for critical hit), but this extra damage is not multiplied for a critical hit.
I have noticed that a Barbarian "Breaker" cannot really be played as a breaker until LV3, when one can get a second feat because Improved Sunder requires Power Attack, so all non-human "Breakers" need be patient or create attacks of opportunity. Never mind I say, because Makoa is going to do a LOT of damage.
While raging, with Power Attack, we are talking 1D12+9 at LV1, on a critical threat, the damage goes up to 1D12+12. The +2 went to CON for 18 HP while raging at LV1.
Makoa is a follower of Lamashtu (but CN and not CE, although as close to CE as one can be without actually being), he is intelligent enough (INT 13) but devotes this intelligence to ensure he can dish out as much pain as possible. He speaks Common, Orc and Gnoll. His devotion to the Mother of Monsters makes him lust about anything that is female and humanoid, hence his special attraction to female Gnolls, who tend to end up dead due to his weird fantasies.
He works at the slave markets and just enjoy going after slaves who dare run away. He is fond of recalling the story when he smashed a door to a hovel with such force that the makeshift building collapsed on a couple of escaped slaves. His life is motivated by the acquisition of wealth, crushing things and roughing up humanoid females of all kinds. Makoa is a beast with enough brains (INT more than 10) to become extremely dangerous. In combat, he rages as much as he can and always use Power Attack unless his grasp of statistics tells him "Never gonna hit mate!". During combat, especially while raging, he will never stop to heal a team-mate if he can carry on fighting, even if he is himself below 0 HP and using his one round of ferocity.
He prepares his rope gauntlets (LoF PG) every day in case he needs some bludgeoning apparatus and carries five wooden stakes (APG) in case there is a need for piercing damage or close range (10 ft) thrown weapons.
As long as the party does not have a female Paladin to lead it, Makoa is willing to join pretty much any group of adventurers. If there is a female Paladin present, she had better get through his 18HP (when raging) before he rolls a 20 and hits her for that 1D12+12.
Bring in the Rats, Skellies and Goblin tomorrow!
I have taken the liberty of uploading images for Legacy of Fire and a couple of events. Legacy of Fire gets the image of the current adventure and the events get that of the Player's Guide.
You may link to the page using the following code ((Legacy of Fire|this text appeared with a link to the page)) within your text. It is better to link within the site using this notation rather than [http://www.eastmidlandsroleplayers.com/tiki/tiki-index.php?page=Legacy+of+Fire|text linking to webpage] something to do with broken links and stuff I am not really familiar with.
As mentioned to you earlier you can come back to Rise of the Runelords pretty much anytime during the current adventure, well... when the game resumes in May of course. If you miss the rest of Sins of the Saviours we could still find a way of bringing Bester back with the party for the finale. Ian and I decided that his campaign could start now so as to game when I am away, and alternate with mine from late-May onwards.
laurent - makoa looks fine and already to go nick - yes you can come back to the table when work allows it and i had already considered you in the plans going forward laurent - thanks for updating the pages and inserting the pics was going to ask you about it tonight as was unsure how to do it.
I'll try and come along this evening. Given how knackard I'm feeling at the moment don't be surprised if don't make it. (If im not with you by 6:45 assume that I've seen my bed and instantly fallen asleep!)
I've not actually put any real thought about a charicter at all for the game. I think at one point I was considering makeing an inquisitor for the game.
If I'm not there this evening, let me know if there are any class gaps that need filling post game.
Logged in for the first time. Thought I'd say hi and drop a description of Fauda for everyone to see.
Fauda Madawi is a half-elf from the desserts of Katapesh. He grew up roaming the dessert with a small family group of herders living the simple life. After reaching adolescence he quickly grew bored with the dessert life and began looking for something different. His search took him first to the cities where he found it hard to fit in with the laws and strictures of society. Soon he found himself back in the wilderness wandering. He spent sometime captured by Gnolls. Before being sold in to slavery whilst being transported Fauda was rescued by adventurers and taken back to the city as a free man. The city didn't suit Fauda and he fell in with the underbelly and became a pesh addict and spent several years in back alleys and dives living in a drug fueled trance. One day he decided he wanted to do more with his life, so he quit his pesh habit and signed up to free a town from Gnoll occupation.
He is proud of his elven ancestry and his keen elven reflexes are apparent to all. Despite his fickle and selfish nature he is courageous and hardy. His one prized possession in his life is his camel compatriot, You Bastard. Fauda raised the camel from birth and has been by his side all his life. Like You Bastard Fauda can be stubborn and vindictive but is as often can be kind and humble depending on how his mood suits him.
He is dressed simply in wrappings of creamy brown cloth for the warm dessert weather or a well worn suit of sweaty hide armor. He has few possessions beyond a simple pack and food consisting of a scimitar and a small wooden shield given to him by his parents before leaving the dessert. He once had a large ornate camel saddle but lost this sometime during his pesh habit and is only one real regret.
Well that's all for now. Look forward to the next session.
Excellent - good to have a bit of background....
Tariq al-Hassan (I think, can't remember his second name!) is a lawful neutral cleric of Abadar, the god of cities, wealth, merchants, and law. His family owned a stall in the Lower City Bazaar of the great city of Katapesh, selling high quality leather goods designed by his father and manufactured by slaves in his uncle's sweat shop. As a boy, Tariq would watch in awe as the priests of Abadar went about their work, maintaining order amidst chaos, settling violent disputes with a word or two, regulating trade in the interests of trade, in the interests of the city and of civilization itself. His parents, devotees of Abadar themselves, encouraged him in his ambitions to join their order, and Tariq moved to the temple at 14.
Now in his early 20s, Tariq finds himself restlessly ambitious. He thoroughly enjoys the status that his role gives him, but the reality of day-to-day work in what is essentially Trading Standards is starting to lose its lustre. He jumped at the opportunity to join the expedition to reclaim a piece of civilisation and reopen an important trade route - he has little doubt that he has the potential to do more, and in turn, claim the status and rewards that are due to a senior and honoured Priest of Abadar. It might be thought that Tariq's only true god is his ambition, and in a funny way, that's true - Tariq sees devotion to Abadar and (lawful) personal ambition has pretty much the same thing.
Although rather self-important, vain, and status-obsessed, with little sympathy for the idle, ignorant. feckless, or useless, he is also reasonably tolerant and open minded. True, that Barbarian is a... well, Barbarian... but he possess precisely one skill, which he is selling - to his benefit and to the benefit of all. He won't know it, but he's advancing the cause of civilisation. His dark god, his proclivities, and his libido are entirely his own business as long as the law is observed, contracts honoured, and trade protected. Freedom in the silence of the law. Better to have his kind in the tent pissing out, than outside pissing in. High wisdom and decent charisma mean that he's quite good at getting along with allies of convenience.
I can't make it next week, but some tictactical stuff for Tariq....
If there's time, he'll cast shield of faith (+2 AC deflection bonus) before entering combat, and possibly longstrider (+10 base move) as his domain spell if there's time. His first domain is travel, which gives him a +10 to base move, which means he can move 30ft even though he's in medium armour (40 with longstrider). Travel domain also allows him to ignore difficult terrain for a round as a free action. 40ft base move plus selective channel should allow him to channel positive energy to heal allies but not enemies.
The Inevitable domain allows Tariq to cast 'command' a certain number of times per day. Will save is 14. He can use this to make enemies approach/drop item/flee/halt/fall prone. He can use this for crowd control (flee), forcing enemies to provoke AoO (flee/approach), lose AC (fall), or to stop fleeing enemies. He can only use this skill one per enemy per day.
His second spell was going to be Bless, but I don't think that's needed because of our Bard. Perhaps 'Bane' instead if we think we're against a large group of critters, or a second shield of faith spell for another frontline fighter. Maybe protection from evil or chaos if we know for sure we're up against that.
Tariq has decent strength and AC (especially with SoF), so will go frontline melee if needed. His high base move may help for flanking....
Try to keep him alive
game page is updated with last weeks actions, and its good to see backgrounds for 3 of the charaters up. next week should be a few fights so combat tactics can be worked out for the party. hope all enjoyed the game and see you all wednesday
So it would appear that the party has a Barbarian, Cleric, and Bard (I'm guessng Fauda is a Ranger or Druid .. correct me if I'm wrong!)
Is there anyone I'm missing there?
I have charicter idea that I see easily fitting into a Cleric, an Inquisitor or another clase. (Have a guess which one.. go on you know you want to!)
As I'm going to be wandering past Vauge Connections tomorrow for the PFS session I will roll the stats then, and should be ready with a charicter for Wednesday.
Ok nick get ginga to witness roles for stats and starting cash. We have a ranger, cleric, druid, bard, barbarian, and a witch in the group
(Now I have him fully rolled up) Introducing Valdisar. An elf who has spent almost his entire 120 years within the city. He has become very reserved, and does not make friends quickly, because he has watched several generations of the families of his childhood friends be born, grow old, and die.
He has taken to the road to help increase his knowledge and power, in the hope of increasing his standing within the community of his god.
While he is not typically inclinded to act first and then ask questions, when he does set his mind on a course of action it tends to be difficult to talk him out of it.
Fellow players,
Good luck with Makoa and his misogynistic ways. Remember to play him as very rough around the edges when it comes to talk to NPCs and definitely have him utter sexist remarks.
Nick, I see that you are about to play a class you have never played before!
Anyway, the fiancée and I shall be a Heathrow around four o'clock.
Happy Easter to you all and see you in a couple of weeks.
Well my charicter is a specialist Wizard, I have never played a specialist Wizard before.
Hope you have a good holiday Laurent.
for laurent and adam, The groups tentatively entered the ruined monastery and headed towards the alter upon which they were attacked by every ones favourite fey Pugwampis . A fight ensued with characters heading to the roof to get at them. The nimble footed barbarian danced lightly over rafter after rafter (75% chance to break and fall 20ft) where as the druid stepped on one and went through elbow dropping his camel on the way down to the floor. The group eventually defeated the Pugwampis then the ranger went through the curtain up in the rafters to fall through the canvas ceiling seeing the Pugwampi king on the way passed. The king proved to be quite troublesome until Ya’bastard the camel got hold of him (That camel could teach the barbarian a thing or two about combat to Pugwampis). Now on to exploring and clearing the rest of the monastery
Thanks for the update. I'm glad the 'tell those who missed the session that their character died' fad appears to have died out. Unless this is a cunning double bluff, and the Cleric and Barbarian have been Pugwumped to death - which sounds like a particularly nasty way to die.
Have we worked out which minor BSG character Nick has named his specialist wizard after?
Having never watched BSG, if my character shares a name with a character in the show it is by complete coincidence.
If you do work out where I got the name from I will be impressed!
Hi all, great game so far.
I won't be at the upcoming game as I'm down in Windsor visiting the Queen.
For who ever takes on the role of Ahkah. Ahkah prefers close range bow and arrow work, balancing his point blank and rapid shot feats to his advantage when possible, if it's all a bit messy he'll draw his sword and get in there. (until he learns to shoot into combat, then he's keeping out of it).
He's currently got minus 1 to attack, until he confirms a critical hit. (I hate that card)
See you in a couple of weeks.
Legacy of Fire
Ok all set up and we are ready to play
Yeah!
