May 2011 Big Meet

Alan posts: 321 United Kingdom

Dear Members,

This is the discussion thread for our May 2011 Big Meet.

Obviously, you need to have a look at:

The May 2011 Social

The Afternoon Session

The Evening Session

You are:

A player.

  • Discuss the games on offer, what you need to prepare, anything really.
  • Ask kindly if someone else could run a game for you. Demand could create offer after all.

A GM

  • Describe the game you want to play here in addition to what is to be found on your game page.
  • Ask for advice on how to format your game page.
  • Ask the Organising Team member in charge of the event to put your game on the sign up page and linkify everything that needs be linkified, such as a particular game thread in the forum or your game page for instance. Members of the Organising Team should be able to modify the calendar event and tracker pages to include their own games, but I can do it for them too if need be.

A new member or a simple observer.

We do not bite, so post away.

And for all of the above, you can discuss transport issues here too.

This is the original post, people are invited to propose games as soon as possible to allow players some choice and time to make up their minds.

Hint.

"No game, thus no play makes us pretty dull boys" (and girls), so do not be shy and run something!

Sticky.

This thread will remain as a "sticky" until the May Big Meet has passed, then it will become a normal thread again. After that, you will still be able to comment on the event, but entropy should ensure the thread's slow death and let the newer thread for the current Big Meet take centre stage.

Alan posts: 321 United Kingdom

Okay, fingers crossed I've gone through and updated everything correctly to get us set up for the next event but I would take it as a kindness if someone could check I've got it all as it is supposed to be. Apart from that the usual routine applies, make your intentions to play/run games known on this thread (yes even if you might have talked about elsewhere previously because if I even read it I probably wasn't paying enough attention to make the link...) and either myself or one of the organising team will see to it your game is added to the calendar.

All looks good to me Alan.

It's Beer & Pretzels weekend though, will the meet go ahead at the Brunswick as usual or do we decamp to Burton?

Bruce

Ileandra Young posts: 116 United Kingdom

Forum keeps eating my messages. :-(

Bruce_C posts: 180 United Kingdom

It didn't eat that one though?

Alan posts: 321 United Kingdom

Its lonely attention seeking behaviour, that's all. wink

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

We have the Brunswick booked, and I know in the past some people have expressed a wish to still have the Brun happen as Burton was deemed too far. That element may no longer be present, but I have given this some thought and fear B&P might prove a little too much for me. So I for one will be at the Brun if I am able. I am sure others will want to go to B&P. We can't officially do both, though there is nothing wrong with members going to B&P instead, after all its the enjoying a game that matters. I think the Brun should continue at least as an offering.

I will be at the Brun (had a wedding to go to yesterday!)

I will run something as I believe Laurent is away?

Ive always found B&P a little unfriendly, not sure why really

Ileandra Young posts: 116 United Kingdom

Hmm... I was only saying that I'd like to do B&P this year as I didn't last year, but its a choice between that and getting back to monthly meets at all which is proving increasingly trickly. :-(

I figure, when my driving lessons are over and I have a bit more time (including when I'm done with my editing work) I might be able to give over a Saturday a month again. But until then, I'm not sure. ~sob~

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

I'll see you at the Brun then John. Leah, if I am able, I will have a Leah shaped space for you if you wanted it.

Len

Bruce_C posts: 180 United Kingdom

If the meet is at the Brunswick that's where I'll be.

I might go and take a look at B&P on the Sunday. It's not down the road for me anymore either but I might persuade my wife to come over even if we just look at the board and card games.

Alan,

Set-up.

Nearly perfect, but the first post referred to ...until the May Big Meet has passed,.... I have edited that. smile

I hope the coming May Big Meet will attract as many - or more - members. Technically I shall be back at home, but with the wife working in London during the week, this will be a no-no as far as I am concerned to be at the Brunswick on that day. wink

Pathfinder Society scenario.

John, you could run some slightly more recent scenarios if you can. As you already know, they are perfect for one session.

Short but busy week ahead, last minute shopping on Friday and leaving Nott'm a week on Monday.

Laurent,

Bruce_C posts: 180 United Kingdom

I'm now stuck with the Friday night shift at work and unlikely to make it on Saturday.

Laurent posts: 1029 United Kingdom

Hello,

I shall not be in Derby in the end either.
My wife and I have guests on Saturday evening.

Laurent,

Laurent posts: 1029 United Kingdom

Hello,

I will be posting the new Big Meet events and threads later today or tomorrow.

So... how was Saturday? Has anybody showed-up?

Laurent,

Adam posts: 137 United Kingdom

Marvellous :-)

No-one had an adventure prepared, so Len managed the impressive feat of running a whodunnit detective style adventure from memory, without the aid of notes, rulebooks, or a safety net, and a good time was had by all....

I might have an adventure to run for the next Big Meet, but I should probably double check that I can make it before committing to anything...

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

CSI: Armagada is not normally a game you could play twice. So I have to take my hat off to Charlie, who managed to not give away all the stuff he knew from playing the game previously at Conception. This allowed the rest to solve the puzzles for yourselves. He took on a role that would allow him to plead 'stupidity' at the appropriate times, and got his fun messing with what he knew was an NPC red-herring.

He even prompted me with the name of an NPC that I could not remember. So although I ran the game, Charlie made it possible by playing along with a game he had played before, and suspending not only disbelief, but inside knowledge.

Laurent posts: 1029 United Kingdom

Dear Members,

I will not be able to set-up the next event either.

Personal problem (not posting this on a public forum). Len will now and will be allowed to tell.

Laurent,

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

I can confirm I am in the know, and agree that there is no reason to say more on the public web. There is no terrible secret involved, just to allay any gossip by anyone wondering. A PM to me will get a response with the reason for those who really must know. Please, Do NOT bother Laurent with insensitive questions.

Len

Alan posts: 321 United Kingdom

I've set this thread back to a normal thread to make way for the June Big Meet to take its place as a sticky. As normal discussions can continue. Time will take care of the rest. I'd have got to this sooner normally but the last weeks have been something of a whirlwind.
