Dragonstorm

An established group is looking for one or two new players to join for a fornightly-ish game in Arnold. Game takes place on a Friday evening between 7-11. It is called Dragonstorm and the campaign notes are below. If interested post here and I'll pass stuff on.

Dragonstorm Campaign Notes:

It is said that they came from beyond the northern wastes… that they destroyed all in their path… that they plundered the devastation, taking treasure and knowledge and power… that they migrated back to their homes.

And it is said that they will come again – soon.

Somehow the fallen Empire of Nerath found a way to prevent the devastating regular Migration of Wyrms known as Dragonstorm for the duration of its rule.

The Dragonstorm world is Points of Light with many features in common with the D&D base world including the Nentir Vale Fallcrest starting point.

Magic is fairly rare. E.g. sunrods are chemical rather than magical.

Magic use is frowned upon and limited.

The wyrms, it is said, are awakened by the smell of arcane power.

No magic items can be made by PCs and many rituals such as “Transfer Enchantment” do not exist.

Many items listed on the character builder or in the books do not exist.

Few magic items are ever sold, most are unique.

The knightly order known as the Luminous Order of Pelor is headed by a zealous dwarf priest called Grundelmar and has its northern base at The House of The Sun in Fallcrest. Its main base is in a castle called the Shining Citadel whose location is kept secret. Affiliation to the order does not require worship of Pelor but does require some pledges and confers some benefits (more as you rise in the Order).

Pledges:

· You will fight evil in all its forms and manifestations

· You will, regardless of personal cost, always come to the aid of a fellow Luminary

· You will keep the secrets of the Order until death (and beyond)

· You will pay a tithe (10%) of quest profits to support the Order

· If you choose to leave the Order you will return all Items belonging to the Order and submit to the Dismissal Ritual (which will cause you to forget all Order secrets and lore)

Benefits (depending upon your personal, or group affiliation score)

· The title Knight Luminary

· Eligible for questing on behalf of the Order and the Shining Citadel

· May purchase ritual and healing support from the Paragons of the Order

· Luminary Captains may wear the Luminary Tabbard or Emblem

· Luminary Champions received one Weapon of the Shining Citadel

At the start of the campaign you have come to the House of the Sun in response to recruiting posters throughout the Nentir Vale. You gather amongst a rag-tag ensemble of unlikely adventurers and hangers-on who have turned up out of curiosity or the hope of a hand out.

Grundelmar describes how the Order in the north is in desperate need of recruits.

Grundelmar is a stout, steely-bearded, dwarf priest with powerful build and equally powerful dragon-headed warhammer. He is gruff, loud and does not suffer fools. As he enters through golden draperies at the back, the eclectic crowd gathered in the main worship hall of the House of the Sun in Fallcrest fall silent. His eyes peer over the hundred or so who have responded to fliers posted across the Vale and beyond. Rag-tag farmers, youths in piecemeal borrowed armour, earnest sallow kids, some hooded and shadowy characters and the odd dwarf. It may be your imagination but his eyes seem to linger on you a little longer than most others. Are you marked out for this?

Grundelmar describes how the Order in the north is in desperate need of recruits. The Luminous Order has suffered significant loses recently and they need to recruit many more Knight Luminaries. Any are free to attempt an initial quest to prove themselves worthy of joining the organisation. In return they will be well equipped and able to keep all but 10% of “incidental earnings”. Any interested should form questing groups and register interest by signing their group up on one of the basic questing rosters.

Only the basic questing rosters are on show and each is supervised by a Knight Luminary. There are five:

1. Clear and seal a goblin infested tomb in the Gray Downs
2. Put down a rebellion instigated by “The Beggar King” in the far eastern city of Punjar
3. Investigate rumours of a fortress ruin beneath Lake Wintermist
4. Respond to a request for help from Treona, a Sage of the North
5. Rescue a kidnapped Prince and a threat to an Eastern Principality

You are not obliged to join the Order to take a quest – you forego the responsibilities and benefits.

Character Thoughts

* Have a background if you like, or make one up as you go along.
* Have character traits perhaps, mannerisms or sayings that you become known for.
* Have a secret or two in your past.
* Have a purpose.

Table Rules

* Please try to use the flavour texts and add character.
* I assume characters talk to each other whenever players do and at the same volume for stealth / other purposes.
* Please try to avoid swearing .
* You cannot usually retract a declared action or a moved figure.
* Spilled dice get re-rolled.
