Armagada

Ileandra Young posts: 116 United Kingdom

So... back to Armagada, huh?

I must say, I have really really missed Ammelath and Lithien, so it will be something of a treat to play the pair again!
Though I guess a thread to enable us to talk about it may well be in order? Sorry if there is one already; if there is I can give this one the old boot. :-D

This IS the thread. At least it is now. wink

Charlie posts: 202 United Kingdom

Woohoo! Start threading the news.

So Tuesday at Lenuths, not the pubby-wubby?

Does the bunch of Armagada virgins need to bring/know/be emotionally inclined towards anything before hand?

Also I'd really like to know which character's belong to who, as having thoroughly scoured the Armagada pages I've me eye on one or two. wink

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

Well, if I tell you who has what right now, you can start by ruling out the following:
Tamuril belongs to Ashley. - Don't even think about it.
Kor'Ath belongs to Ashley. - Don't even think about it.
Luthien belongs to Leah. - Don't even think about it.
Ammelath belongs to Leah. - Don't even think about it.

Astra probably needs to stay in the game, and if Astra is in, so probably will Carlton. Astra has a thirst for knowledge and the promised new adventures would prove hard to resist. Carlton has a moral mission to protect Astra, deeper than his official appointed mission, - to protect Astra.

Woodstrike has the attention span of a goldfish with Altzheimers, and though he would probably continue if he didn't lose concentration, could conceivably forget he had a mission at all.

Rowanfury was last seen storming off in the direction of what he hoped was home, pining for Willow, and upset because the Queen of Neige was pissed off with him for being rude. He is thousands of miles away, last seen heading further away.

Bingli and Piers are totally optional.
Helibobs has potential storyline, but it is not essential to the plot.

Introducing my 2 brand new characters:

Simoriahelenthelesa "Simoriah" Kerellenishia the lady elf ranger turned druid. She is nice and peaceful. She is calm, serene and sensible. Just don't mess with the plants!

and....********* ********* the ******* ***** *******. He is a ****** ******* who will ****** ******* *******. He is also ******* ******** *******.

(well he is still a secret!)

Charlie posts: 202 United Kingdom

Well in that case then Piers would have been my first choice, and if no one picks up Bingli I'm sure he can try and convince the little fella to leave, maybe.

Failing that I'd be happy to go with Carlton, again providing someone else has picked up Astra I guess.

I seem to recall Martin being cast in the role of Woodstrike?

Now that I think about it though, I should put my name down to play miss Kerellenishia, as introducing new characters is not the same as declaring an intention to play them. wink

Of course I too have a couple of characters patiently waiting in the wings;

one curious and nosey dancing bard - Charles Pullet
and
one drunken bastard of an ex-monk (and possibly estranged 'Librarian'?) come barbarian - Karolek Meier

So then I thinks I'll go with Piers if there's no objections,
unless someone else snatches up Astra in which case we'll be needing a Carlton? So I'll jump on in there if need be.

... And we have two characters each? That's just downright greedy and confusing. But I guess I have a pool of four to pull from then! smile

And does master Len have character sheets for all current PCs?

Also, shall I stop typing now? I think I should, but a second opinion never hurts...

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

We know that there is a great pull to go investigate The Devastation for little Tinker Kaufmann, the second Golan Guardian. But first we have a few things to clear up from the current Cuerno Verde Mission before we start a new track.

The party are currently in Cuidad Verde. Guests of the old crippled human woman that they brought back with them from Two Rivers. Tina Braun was surprisingly greeted like long lost royalty by some in cuidad Verde.

Her story being heard by the whole council with rapt attention. Her revelation that their party's halfling rogue seems to have betrayed then and caused the deaths of several party members is heard with a surprising amount of pleasure.

Does anyone remember the last words to the Cuerno party by Belogard Unstwil, your sponsor?

Ileandra Young posts: 116 United Kingdom

Buh.... but anyone you mean Mike and I, right?
Eeeeeeerm... I gotta say it; no. Unfortunately not.

Probably getting back into the games room and that headspace will help, but at this moment in time I'm drawing a blank.
Characters are looking cool.

  • gleefully hugs Ammelath and Luthien character sheets* yeeeeeeey!

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

T'was a good session I thought.

  • Merryweather Stout lost his head. twisted
  • Belogard got his wife back, and his old squeeze too. (There might be friction there do you think?) redface
  • Astra, Luthien and Tamuril got their Cuernos "sealed".mrgreen
  • Kor'Ath got a relation. surprised
  • The Library got a new old book, and some really new information.question

Ileandra Young posts: 116 United Kingdom

Heh, busy all around. I like!
Though I am interested in the fact that nobody has told Ammelath to return the head she currently has in a bag. o.O

I reckon she'll end up mounting it and putting it on the wall of the house she next breaks into. Like a hunting trophy.

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

The head of Merryweather Stout belomgs to Belogard, an was taken by him. His intention is to have it preserved and mounted in his office.

For Tina, seeing it removed was sufficient. For Brigit her release was enough, she would happily llet you keep it.

Belogard will sell it back to you if you ask, and the price would not be high because he would get a kick out of knowing that he could tell people he sold the head for only XXGP. If you had asked to keep it, he would have asked what it was worth.

Charlie posts: 202 United Kingdom

Good day folks and folkettes.

Quick few questions for you lovely clever lot!
Does anyone gots any answers to the followin'? -

Does Astra have himself a familiar?

Someone somewhere at some point mentioned Carlton's armour, what's he wearing these days?
Oh, and do you have any idea how much an Anarchic sword and an Axiometic sword cost!? I hope he got a buy-one-get-one-free deal on them!

Also if anyone knows any other equipment, importanty info etc. that these two had/have, feel free to let me know.

T'ink that's all, have fun, see yous Tuesday!

Lots of Love! xxx

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

Carlton's swords are a matched pair of blades that really belong to the Librarians, but were re-worked for him by Tinker Kaufmann, the Golan Guardian. Cost was never an issue. The added bonuses are absolutely non-magical, but the swords now have a masterwork bonus and are keen. The magic CAN NOT be used in conjunction with the bonuses conferred by Tinker. It is an either/or situation because Tinker is very much non-magical.

His armour is much like that worn by Tamuril. It is essentially chain + scale mail made of mithril. Mithril chain with leaf shaped scales of mithril Anodised to a gold colour, just like the semi-legendary Gold Shirts, who are in fact the Golan Guardian's Dwarven assistants.

Luthien & Tamuril's version has a ceramic coating instead of the anodising, that gives a non-reflective but patchy green/brown colouration. It gives a hide bonus in woodland as well as its armour bonus.

Tinker was worried that the coating may begin to wear after as little as 30 - 50 years; 20 years if constantly used in battle. But the players decided that even 20 years was fine. The Golden colour does not wear.

Table: Armour and Shields Speed Speed
Light Armour Cost Armour Bonus Max Dex Bonus Armour Check Penalty Arcane Spell Failure Chance (30 ft.) (20 ft.) Weight
Mithril Chain+Scale 2600 gp +7 +4 0 30% 30ft 20ft 15lb

There is a single potential drawback to Carlton's armour, and even that is theoretically a bonus. Unless he takes actions to indicate the contrary, strangers will assume him to be the party leader.

Anyone dressed in Gold Sequins is going to stand out.

Len

Charlie posts: 202 United Kingdom

Why thank you very much Lenny-boy!

Always there with the usefulness and the helpfulness when needed.

See yous soon!

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

Then there were eight.

Kor'Venga is managing to irritate his brother, but Ammelath may be warming to him,as might Luthien. Tamuril has found someone who does not consider all her marbles lost, and we have a druid who has dreamed similar dreams to Tamuril. Astra will probably only believe it if he sees it in a book, and Carlton sees nothing wrong with Astra using magic to chop dead flowers off a rose bush no matter how crasst the druid thinks it is.

Len

Ileandra Young posts: 116 United Kingdom

Its not bad at all really, is it?
Lol, though to be honest, anybody as big as Korath that she can put on her side will probably suit Ammelath just fine! :p
And Luthién is just bored of dealing with humans. This should be interesting. :-D

Charlie posts: 202 United Kingdom

Honey, I'm home!!

Aye up folks! Did ya miss me!? Of course you did... neutral

Anywho, now I'm back in the much more reasonable weather of rain, and, wind, and chilliness, what have I missed?

Have the party discovered hidden encampments of nastiness in the mountains?
Have they ventured North looking for the ominously abandoned(?) keep/stronghold/holiday home?
Have the two mysterious elf-esk persons been suitably apprehended?
Or are they all hopelessly lost, miles from the pass without Carlton's mountain trekking expertises?

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

Well, Carlton did not disgrace himself you will be pleased to hear.wink

However what actually happened was not as successful as the rest of the party probably think.twisted

They decided to follow the two elf-esque tracks that left the killing ground with some of the goblinoids. They knew there were upwards of 35-40 other goblinoids of various sizes that left in many other directions, but concentrated on the elf-esque types.

Luckily Kor'Ath decided to travel above the rest and in an invisible state. He spotted a goblinoid, and others heard the cackling laugh of it. Kor'Venga was attacked from a different direction and suffered a little damage from Magic Missiles. He could not see the attacker, but was able to discern the direction of the attack. He leaped on to a prominent rock behind which he thought the attacker was hiding. - He suffered another attack, but still did not see the attacker.

Kor'Ath flew to a point he considered to be behind the attacker, hoping to flank it. Both the half-ogre-mages found themselves unable to see a thing, and the rest of the party saw them disappear into a large area of darkness.

Carlton was immediately surrounded by a number of goblins & goblinoids. He noticed, just as others did that the attackers were often deformed with such afflictions as shortened limbs, missing or extraneous fingers or toes and the like.

Kor'Venga leaped out of the darkness, and Kor'Ath flew upwards leaving the attacker inside its own spell area. Kor'Venga moved over to where the laughter came from, saw a goblinoid wearing cone parts of the armour and accoutrements of the dead mountain guards, and carrying a twisted stick.

Kor'Venga attacked the hobgoblin who looked to be some form of leader or Shaman. The Hobgoblin spoke to him in giant. Calling him friend and asking him not to attack because they were on the same side. Kor'Venga slaughtered the Shaman who died tying to say something that was lost on Kor'Venga.

Kor'Ath noticed a Drow entering the area of darkness, and the two Half-Ogre-Mages moved to the edge of the darkness and listened. They heard talking in a language they did not understand, but Kor'Ath was able to gather that one of the two voices sounded sad. Then there was a scream, and Kor'Ath stepped into the darkness, moving to the area where he judged the voices to have come from. He called in Goblin to say they were defeated and to withdraw.

Kor'Ath used his Naginata and swung the weapon in a great arc. Estimating that he stood a slim chance of hitting the attacker or attackers. He felt the weapon bite. (Having rolled a 20 despite all the negatives.) Then a wet sound and a gurgling cry followed by the darkness fading. He was left standing close to the bodies of a drow sorceress and a drow warrior. The warrior with its throat cut and the sorceress slumped over her ornate dagger, which was thrust under her ribcage and into her heart.

Kor'Ath's ruse had worked, the goblinoids ran for their lives. This left the party with no clue as to what had really happened. No clue what the Shaman might have been trying to tell Kor'Venga. No clue what the Drow were doing in the mountains. The two drow had been given a perfect opportunity to take their own lives rather than be captured alive. The Shaman slaughtered without mercy.

Yes folks. You might congratulate yourselves on beating the enemy, but on a DC 10 listen check your DM will be heard chuckling.lol

Consider this warning, i wont be able to make the next Armagada as its the start of school and i know already i will be busy prepping the teacher day i am running the following day. I am hoping I will be able to continue to play regularly but I did warn that it might not be possible....

Charlie posts: 202 United Kingdom

Thanks a lot for the update Len, seems the party has been having fun, and they're following the classic tactic of beating on people first and asking questions later! We love it.

And as an added bonus - Drow Steaks for Kor'Venga too!

Although I think we are all disheartened to hear there'll be a distinct lack of Ash! Kor'Venga and Simoriah are going to be lost without Kor'Ath and Tamuril respectively!

Well enjoy your prep work Ash, we'll be thinkin' of ya!

Len posts: 1095 United Kingdom

Well, things look dire for Armagada right now.

We always knew that Ash would have to break from the game in September, so that was an expected blow. However Mike pulling out has meant we no longer have either of the worshippers of Eludil. This will make a successful completion of the upcoming scenario next to impossible.

Valuable information was lost in the last battle. The Drow were given a perfect opportunity to take death before capture, so they were not interrogated, and as the pleas by the shaman fell on deaf ears. She was hoy left in a position to tell all either. This information was pretty much the only other means I know of to complete the scenario without the druid and paladin.

Without the information the but with the two missing players we still stood a good chance; without either you march into the jaws of death itself.

I think this next session, if it goes ahead should be a discussion. I propose Armagada goes on hold and we recruit for Leah to DM her game when she's ready,

we can pick up Armagada again as and when.
