Short Armagada

A campaign for Short People.

Set in the Armagada campaign setting, this campaign is restricted to Halfings and Gnomes as PCs.

In the small market town of East Lexton we begin an adventure for Halfling and Gnome PCs.

East Lexton is in the extreme south of the elf-ruled land of Arvel. Where the woodlands have given way to scrubby farmland. Local farmers bring their meagre excess crops to sell, and buy what they can to make ends meet. South of here it gets worse. This is really the last bastion of civilisation before the barbarian wastelands begin. But on the bright side, it is the first tiny taste of civilisation for those poor souls struggling northward. The first chance to stock up.

Our adventurers begin already knowing each other. Friends despite their differences.

Legends have it that a very long time ago Halflings and Gnomes worked closely together and both races prospered as a result. These days the races do not always get on too well. There is an ingrained distrust of each race by the other. The individuals of one race will frequently actually get on with, personally like, and work with individuals of the other race, but their communities will instinctively frown on any such friendships.

Obviously whatever happened in the distant past runs deep. Both races see all other races as outside this relationship. It is a Gnomes and Halflings thing, nothing to do with elves dwarves or humans. In fact the only time the two races seem to be in agreement is in the regard that the two races have a special relationship to each other. Each will actually support the other in the face of opposition from an elf for instance. Typical unreasonable racial bias. The phrases "present company excepted", and "no offense meant", "But not you guys", "apart from you of course", and other such hasty withdrawals are almost commonplace in conversations between such friends.

Occasionally, adventurers from the south bring diamonds for sale. These are usually ultimately bought by elves dwarves and humans from further north. But the halflings and gnomes of East Lexton often get a reasonable cut in the trade, taking the gems from the adventurers in exchange for goods and services. Adventurers bringing diamonds for sale almost always seem to be halflings. They never tell where they came from, keeping their source a secret is not an unreasonable desire.
