Carlton

Carlton's Story

Upbringing

Carltons upbringing was relatively uneventful and
uninteresting for a future hero. Raised in Cuidad Verde he spent most of his time helping his father out in his smiths shop, testing the weapons and armour. Due to his natural dexterity his father began to specialise in lightweight elven armour, designed to give maximum protection for the minimum encumbrance. This gave him the niche market he was looking for and allowed him to make a good living in Cuidad Verde. His mother was generally just a housewife, keeping the house and raising carlton.

Cuerno

For his Cuerno Carlton joined the mountain guard, as that was the norm for those who can hack it. From the very first day Carlton stood out, his familiarity with weapons and armour meant he was quick to master some of the basic training techniques. This along with his elven heritage and his outstanding dexterity led to him being offered a position within a specialist group of the mountain guard. The group that appealed to him the most were “The Expolorers” since they were the best of the best and he couldn't think of a more glorious way to complete his Cuerno.

The Librarians

During his cuerno Carlton became friendly with a guy called Polti Legeviel. He was only a normal mountain guard but more importantly he was the son of Eorilad Legeviel, who is the head of the Personal Guard. This alone was reason enough to be nice to him initially, but over time he reaslised that Polti was a good man and they became friends. There was always something a little odd about him though, Carlton often noticed Polti watching him during training and sometimes appeared a little overfriendly. At the end of his cuerno the reason for this became obvious, Carltons talents had not only been noticed by The Mountain guard, but also by The Librarians.

Polti was indeed a member of the librarians and his task was to recruit some of the best and most suitable fighters into the guild. By the end of Carlton’s Cuerno, Polti was in a position to recommend that Carlton do some freelance work for the librarians. From there he was fed more and more information about who they are and what they do, as and when the Librarians decided he was ready. Over a period of a couple of years Calton continued to prove himself until he was offered membership into the guild itself. He promptly accepted this offer and began his two year induction.

Induction to the Librarians.

This consists of a series of tests and trials where his drive and ability are found. He is then sent on service for the librarians for 18 months to channel this ambition, and then a further 2 months testing again to check for improvement, commitment etc...

Once this is completed he takes a single big trial for 1 month. All this went without a hitch and upon completing his induction, he was invited to Porte Verde to meet the council and be welcomed to the group.

Astra

On his way to meet the council he decided to take a shortcut by the river, where he saw an object floating in river. On second glance it was a child’s leg and on it was the mark of Astraea. He immediately dived in to save the child, and then took it to the council which was where he was originally destined. Arriving to his formal presentation in wet clothes and with a baby did not initially go down well, but upon explanation as to the symbol on the baby's leg, all was forgiven and he was accepted into the guild with a distinction.

Service

For the 18 years that followed as Astra was growing up,
Calrton has been a loyal servant of both the Mountain Guard and The Librarians,
Overlapping tasks where possible to keep both groups in the loop.
