Bandaluthia Session 54
Bandaluthia Session 54
The party stole down the tunnel, with Bull, their new acquaintance, in tow. Pandora scouted ahead and peeked out the tunnel entrance. Orcs, four of them, sat there. The group stormed the room and made short work of the enemy.
Outside, more orcs could be seen. How to handle this? The gnomes helped. They should not be out and so were “seen”. Orcs arrived, six of them. Again, the party triumphed. The gnomes got excited, seeking the opportunity for escape. In contrast the party counted a remainder of 50 orcs or so. The odds were stacked against them.
This time the group tried the back door (which they had come in from before). The thief and ranger stole out, and saw an orc atop a tower. They waited, as the enemy closed. A twang was heard behind the ranger and she was struck by an arrow in the back – three more orcs. The party exchanged fire with them, and they fell.
The gnomes began to leave, attracting the attention of six more orcs. The party held the doorway, but the numbers of enemies now threatened to overrun the group. A horn sounded. The party felt that all was lost but, to their relief, the orcs began to leave the castle. Pandora climbed to the top of the building they were in, and confirmed this, but also that two large orcs, with horned helms, were coming their way. Sylvie rushed to the top. Kharkin and Freda blocked the door. Jean-Luc hid. Milo groaned, unconscious from grievous wounds.
A couple of arrows struck the creatures as they closed, but soon melee began on the ground floor. The battle was brutal, but the party emerged victorious.
After gathering the required plants the party set-off back to Bandaluthia. The gnomes turned out to be good company. They pulled the cart stoically.
On arriving back the party expected to find a grateful Thelonius. This was not so. He was angry that the party infighting – with Sylvie at the centre – had distracted them from their mission, and they had not seen the extra elements in the unfolding troubles.
Sylvie confronted Thelonius and suggested it was none of his business. Her bile rose and she spat venom like a cobra. The others tried to get her to ameliorate her behaviour, to no avail. They, too, became targets of her harsh tongue. The recriminations started and cruel words were exchanged. Well, not really exchanged so much as fired, as if from a longbow, from the ranger. The ripping point seemed to come when she explained to Freda just how her horse Yurg had died. As some in the party said they were done with the elf, she left, stating she would be back to get her share of the spoils tomorrow.
This glorious battle (in the Inn with Thelonius) would be their last together, or so it seemed …
