Bandaluthia: Session 10

As the Animals sat about and leisurely ate elevenses, they were joined by Thelonius. The apprentice wizard had offerings of peace to Ratsel and some scrolls exchanged hands. During this jolly little feast, another man stepped up to their table and slapped a card on the table. As the seven looked curiously at the marking on the card (which was just a large black capital H, the mark of The Harkers) and the slow realisation of what it meant dawned, the man simply said
“Let it begin” and then he went to stand in the corner.
All hell broke loose, as four assassins, who were already in place in the pub, jumped up to attack, and more started to pile in through the front door. The Animals burst into action. Swords of all sizes swung. Some hit, some missed. Tyven went to cover the back door, but more assassins were already coming in. Ratsel and Thelonius rained down magic missiles, Hellhound leapt into the fray, Shaniqua tumbled her way into the fight and Coolio blessed them all to try to give a slim advantage to his comrades in arms. The other six would have fallen quickly, but up stepped the man of the match, Doogle. With a typical Glaswegian shout of defiance, the halfling started his battle, not knowing the intricate politics which prompted such an audacious assassination attempt, but none the less, the halfling swung his sword to immense success. He felled assassin after assassin, and dodged their attempts to snuff out his threat. As the fight wore on; Tyven had to retreat into the main bar as he tried to fend of several assassins’ intent to cut off any escape. Hellhound fell, to be stood up by the gallant efforts of Coolio, but Hellhound fell again straight away. Coolio kept his healing for other emergencies. Thelonius, in his first ever battle got to near the fighting and he to fell, but not before he had taken one down, and empowered Shaniqua with ‘True Strike’ Shaniqua managed to stay upright to use this power, but it was too little, too late for her, and the halfdrow fell too. Ratsel and Coolio dodged and weaved their way through the combat to stem the free flowing blood from their fallen friends. There were sounds of fighting from the courtyard out the back. With no time to investigate, the four still standing held on. More assassins came into the fray from the front. Doogle chopped, sliced, hacked maimed, slayed and destroyed those who stood before him, but the numbers where proving too great, and the halfling became out flanked. Tyven stepped in front of the waning halfling and held firm long enough for Doogle to get help from Coolio. The relief was not long as Tyven soon fell himself. The first assassin who delivered the card made a move. Not toward the fight, but he smashed the windows and four archers popped up with intent to pepper the now floundering resistance. After the window smashing, the first assassin ran off. Doogle hid behind the bar, but he came eye to eye with an assassin with the same idea. Doogle smashed the coward in the head with his very bloody great sword. It only took that one shot. From the back of the pub a foreign accent rang out
“Zoot alores, I sink you are needin’ our ‘elp” Antoine, Gus and Raj had come through from the courtyard. (Three of the men who turned up yesterday for the protection job before they were turned away) The archers let loose their first barrage. Eight arrows found their mark with Gus taking four of them. Antoine tipped over tables and they all tried to hide behind them. Then they started to evacuate. Most had to carry or drag a fallen comrade.
Once in the courtyard, Coolio made for the Sickle, and the rest fled to 22 Acacia Avenue. Coolio had lunch with Dave whilst Jack the Lad was sent for the 300gp down payment for the rent of their new abode. Dave told Coolio that he was undercover last night and he was trying to find out about the New Thieves Guild. That was why he was angry about being followed. Ratsel returned with Jack and the money, and the payment was made, and the keys were handed over. 22 Acacia Avenue was at last their own.
Hellhound, meanwhile, slipped off to see D’Jarra-Leon. The wizard questioned the half dwarf/half orc about his needs in his new body. Hellhound was then polymorphed into a human male. 6.0ft tall and 200lb of normality.
Hellhound had gone.
Hollenlord was born.
